Who is braving Black Friday? POLL

I have never shopped on Black Friday but am considering it this year.

  1. Is it worth the early wakeup time and crazy crowds?
  2. Where are you planning to shop?
  3. Do you have a gameplan?
  4. Are most of the things on your list going to be on sale?
  5. What is typically NOT on sale?

Re: Who is braving Black Friday? POLL

  • I think I may brave Black Friday for the kitchen at TRU that is on sale for $49.99, regular $99. Otherwise, I'll be staying home : )
  • Loading the player...
    1. Is it worth the early wakeup time and crazy crowds?  Well...I used to think no, I used to go because they made me.  Now that some of the things I want to buy for Nick are goign to be 50% off, it's totally worth it
    2. Where are you planning to shop? TRU, Target, and a few others...
    3. Do you have a gameplan? I'm hitting TRU first, that's all I know
    4. Are most of the things on your list going to be on sale?  I only buy the stuff on sale that day
    5. What is typically NOT on sale?
  • I'll just answer #1 - NO!!! There's really no way you'd catch me out there. I used to work in retail and you couldn't pay me enough to be part of those crazy crowds. The stress is not worth any savings IMO. Some of the people (women especially) are seriously crazy (and mean) shoppers.

    1. Is it worth the early wakeup time and crazy crowds?   Sometimes.  It's fun going to the outlets before midnight.  I actually went when I was pg =)
    2. Where are you planning to shop? Probably the Vacaville outlets
    3. Do you have a gameplan? Usually.  If I go shopping, I'm going to the outlets first and then I'll stop by costco on my way home.
    4. Are most of the things on your list going to be on sale? Not really.  Most of my Black Friday buys are for myself, DH, and Evan.  I've bought a lot of my Christmas gifts online.
    5. What is typically NOT on sale?  Stuff I really need =)
  • I don't shop BF because I feel bad for the poor employees who have to get up so freaking early. Does it really make a difference in the world if the sale starts at 5am or 10am?

Also, and this might change when Max is older and says he'll die if he doesn't get some specifc gift, I generally aim to give the kinds of gifts that aren't on sale on BF... I try to think outside the ads and come up with something great.

    1. Is it worth the early wakeup time and crazy crowds? I don't know, this is my first one.
    1. Where are you planning to shop? Mervyns, target and TRU
    2. Do you have a gameplan? No.
    3. Are most of the things on your list going to be on sale? I have no idea
    4. What is typically NOT on sale? I don't know. Ask Michelle

I've never been. Michelle mentioned it and now i'm all intrigued and want to go with her.
    1. Is it worth the early wakeup time and crazy crowds? For me it is, and really it hasn't been THAT crazy the past two years. Target has a great process.. ALL lines open, someone in each section to ask for help really on it. Toysrus was a bit crazy and a mad house but I will go because they have great sales.
    2. Where are you planning to shop?  We go to Mervyn's, Target, Toysrus..
    3. Do you have a gameplan? yup Turkey day we get a newspaper, I go through the ads map out a list and plan, then day of Starbucks first.. then the stores.. I think this year I will do Toysrus, Target, and Mervyns in that order.
    4. Are most of the things on your list going to be on sale? I ONLY buy onsale on black friday. That is my policy.. If I can get it regular price I don't bother that day. I go for the 5am - 1 pm sales and I usually make my list for people around the list. Like I look for what my cousin kids would like that is on sale.
    5. What is typically NOT on sale? There is something in every section really. I don't buy big ticket items like TVs, Game stations.. if you were going for that then they are usually on sale for big savings. I have found some box DVD sets are not on sale like the Wire which my DH loves.
    1. Is it worth the early wakeup time and crazy crowds?   Yup, I love it
    2. Where are you planning to shop?  We're starting at the outlets at midnight, and then off to Target, Costco, best buy and maybe Home depot
    3. Do you have a gameplan?   yes, see above
    4. Are most of the things on your list going to be on sale?  yes
    5. What is typically NOT on sale? Not sure, since I plan according to the ads.

I could not agree more. They never give enough of a discount to make it worth the hassle.

    1. Is it worth the early wakeup time and crazy crowds? IMO, yes. It can be. I've found that the crowds aren't actually that insane.
    2. Where are you planning to shop? Target and BRU (except that I saw BRU's ad yesterday and it doesn't look that great.)
    3. Do you have a gameplan? Basically, yes.
    4. Are most of the things on your list going to be on sale? At Target: Yes. BRU: No. :(
    5. What is typically NOT on sale? Not sure...
  • My mom has talked me into going since they'll be here until Saturday.  Not sure what time or where we're going.  Maybe TRU, Kohls and Target.

Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • I used to go and last year I went in the late morning for a few specific things.  I missed most of the sales though so if there is something you want I would get there when it is early.  This year I don't have a list really so I don't think I'm going this year.

  • We are supposed to be going to my mom's on Friday so I don't know if I want to haul my lazy butt out of bed that early.  Plus I don't know what store I would want to go to.

  • I'm debating this as well....

    1. According to some, yes...if I get the nerve up to, I will also.

    2. Target, TRU, Kohls or Mervyns

    3. Coffee first, shop and eat later.

    4. Haven't gotten that far yet.

    5. Not too sure---maybe ask Heather/Puahula---I seem to remember her scoring ALL the best deals on BF. She's my shopping hero! Wink
