Car Seat Advice?

DS #2 is 8 months and still in his infant seat, but I know the switch is coming. DS #1 was 3 in January and still in his convertible seat, weighs about 35 pounds and is about 36". What should be my move when DS #2 is ready for the convertible seat. Give him DS #1's seat and move DS #2 into???? Thanks for the advice. I hate to buy more than what I need.

My oldest is 3 1/2 and weighs 42 pounds. I plan to keep her in her convertible seat until she reaches the weight limit (65 lbs) or the height limit (49 inches). She has awhile to go yet for either. They are definitely safer than any sort of booster (and I think the law is 5 years for a booster anyway?). I would buy another convertible seat for DS #2.

You could buy one of those convertible seats that has a 5 pt harness, but converts to a booster seat...like the Graco Nautilus or the Britax Frontier for your #1. And move #2 into the convertible seat that rear-faces. Good luck!

I agree w PP. I would buy a Graco Nautilis for DS1 (we have one and he loves it.. he's the same age and size.. it's low enough that he can climb into it and has a cup holder) and give DS2 the rear facing convertible.

I would either do this or get a taller convertible seat that will last a long time (Radians are supposed to be tall). Or I would get a new convertible for #2 that RFs to a higher limit.

Miles is almost 4 (now), but met the height limit for his convertible sometime in the winter. We bought a Graco Nautilus. It is forward-facing, but has the 5pt harness. When you're done using the harness it can be removed to use the seatbelt with the high-back part. Then when they're ready the high-back part comes off and you can use the bottom as the seat booster. It's the last one we'll need.

So if it were me, I'd move DS #2 into DS#1's convertible and get a Nautilus or similar for DS #2.

We got Britax Frontiers for our oldest and put the baby in his Marathons. The Frontier is 5 point harness still, and he was already forward-facing, so no less safe than being in the Marathon from my understanding.

When DD outgrows her infant seat (DS was too tall for it by 6 months so I hope she's in it until 7 months) she will be getting DS's MyRide and we will get him the Nautilus. He went FFing three days after she was born (so he made it 2 yrs and 3 weeks RFing), he was within an inch from the top anyway. At his 2 year well check he was almost 27 lbs and 37.5". We look at the Nautilus as potentionally his last seat he could need.
