Hi everyone,
I still don't have morning sickness but I've been looking at the different options to get rid of them already! What are your thoughts on these drugs and their safety?
1) I will try to suck it up but it's easy to say when you're not actually sick! Did you get a prescription right away or waited until you couldn't take it anymore?
2) B6 & Unisom cocktail would be my next option. I am familiar with Dicletin which has been prescribed for years in Canada.
3) I don't know much about Zofran. What is it exactly?
Re: Zofran vs. B6 & Unisom (i.e. Dicletin) vs. Sucking it up
My morning sickness started at 6 weeks and lasted until 13 weeks. I didn't take any kind of prescription, but I don't feel like I was that sick. Definitely nauseous, but I never threw up. I would wait and see how it goes for you.
I'm on allergy medication anyway so I was already taking a decongestant and B6 in my prenatal vitamin everyday. I can't say whether that helped me or not because I take both everyday.
Zofran is a prescriptive anti-nausea medication. I have a co-worker who got a script filled but never actually took it. She just dealt with the sickness.
Hope that helps!

I tried B6 and Unisom in my first pregnancy, all it did was make me dead-to-the-world tired.
I have taken Zofran throughout my last pregnancy and my current pregnancy, it helps so much. As soon as I got my BFP this time, I called to schedule an appointment and get a prescription. I highly reccomend it.
I was was one of those "lucky" ones who was sick (vomiting numerous times per day) from weeks 6-30. Yes, 30!!! I still felt nauseous for the last 10 weeks as well.
I took Zofran and it was a lifesaver. You can take it every single day.

I was puking 4-6+ times a day so I tried zofran. It did help, but it made me feel zombie like. Then, when it wore off and I got sick and jittery. Also, another fun side effect: constipation. I didn't have a BM for over a week and it was so painful. Then when I started getting sick on the zofran anyway, I decided to quit. Heck, if I was getting sick anyway, I might as well not deal with the side effects.
Good luck! It does work well for so many people.
It depends on how bad you get and your dr.
Usually drs want you to try the over the counter stuff and tricks frist (crackers, and such). If you are throwing up multiple times a day or to the point of not functioning b/c you are so sick then they usually try a lower doses Rx (zofran or phen-something). If you are still really bad then they up your dose or try the other Rx b/c one may work better for you than the other.
Also just fyi for some zofran takes away all the vomiting/nausea for others it just helps reduce the vomiting and you are still nausea all the time, but it keeps you out of the hospital. I was on high doses of zofran and I was still worse than a lot of people.
I am from Canada and have been dealing with morning sickness from week 6 to now ( 10 weeks tomorrow). I broke down on Friday and asked for Diclectin- and am now wishing I had of done it weeks ago. I was bed ridden up to two days a week, sick a few times a day and nauseas ALL DAY - this my friends is a miracle drug! ( I did throw up this morning for the first time in 4 days, but once I did and got the pill into me, I haven't felt one bit of nausea all day.)
My friends and family who are nurses say it is common for most expecting mothers to suffer with morning sickness for no good reason- these meds are there to serve a purpose- so don't feel bad asking for them!
I'm not a fan on taking any meds during pregnancy, especially first trimester, so for the most part I go the suck it up bit. When I go a straight 24 hours without keeping anything down, then I take one. I've only have to take 2 so far. I'm super paranoid about things like that, though.
My first pregnancy I threw up multiple times a day until 26 weeks, but only took one zofran, again when I went 24 hours without keeping anything down. I still managed to gain 40 lbs, so obviously some things were staying down.
