Keeps asking for food 2 hrs? is she still hungry

LO woke up from a nap at 8pm and won't fall back asleep i have fed her multiple times and she keeps asking for food.. I fed both breasts for appx 15min then changed her and right after she kept rooting for more food.. then she was wise awake remains awake now currently 10:48 won't fall asleep and keeps asking for food giving all the hunger cues?

She is still so young, just keep feeding her on demand and for as long as she wants. At this age, it seems like they are on the boob all the time. These cluster feedings happen during growth spurts. Kellymom.com is a great BF resource if you haven't checked it out yet.

Are you limiting her to 15 minutes per side or did she stop at that time on her own? If you are limiting or timing your nursing sessions, I would not advise it. Especially at the young age of your LO, they are still learning to suck effectively and may take longer to drain the breast. Limiting them just assures hungry baby and possible drop in supply. My DS has nursed as short as 5 minutes and as long as 45... just whatever he needed at the time. Either way, if your LO is still showing hunger signs, feed her! These things can't be timed. Even as adults, we all have days we are hungrier than others. Good luck mama!

THanks no I have never timed it for the purpose to make her stop i time it to ensure she actually feeds a min that amount because she falls asleep so quick. She was two weeks early and had/has jaundice so i have to change her diaper do whatever it takes to get a minimum of 15 each boob! Thanks for the advice i figured this is what I was supposed to do just today she ate lot's and steady. hope this means a good nap for mom

I know what you mean. The first few weeks I worried if my LO ate too much, not enough, slept too much, not enough.

Welcome to my world. DD is 7 wks. and still seems to want to nurse CONSTANTLY. I always feed her on demand, and it took awhile to convince my husband that she wasn't just messing with us - that she really was that hungry. Lol.

I was told to let them eat from each breast until they are done with it and if they are still hungry, then switch to the other breast. Your LO may also be hitting a growth spurt and it's making them even more hungry. (My LO is having that issue)
