Hi ladies!!
So the nurse called with all my pre-op instructions. It was all the usual stuff except one thing ( ok 2 things). She said no nail polish on my fingers or TOES. Fingers I get but toes I have never heard before in any of my previous procedures. I have had a few done at this hospital and never heard that before. I have a thing about my toes. They MUST be polished. Lol. I was going to get a pedi this weekend but now I'm thinking no. They are polished and two chipped so I'll prolly just take it off but it's weird to me. Dh said I'll have socks on, I'm always cold and he even offered to paint them for me once we are home and I'm feeling ok. Ugh. Don't know why this is stranding my out. Lol.
Would you keep them polished? Who's going to know?
Also I know about the antibacterial soap and not lotions perfume etc but she said no. I've never heard this either. Thoughts?
I feel
So vain and know I'll be under and then just resting in my house ur naked toes REALLY bug me and the stinky pits are grossing me out, even though I don't really sweat that much.
I know I'm nitpicking and probably just anxious about the procedure right?
Reassure me or tell me about your experiences please!?

Re: Vain ? Re my surgery
Also she said no jewelry obviously. This makes me sad. I feel weird without my wedding band. The sweet nurse at my RE tapes them on your finger so you can keep them in for ER. I know this is a real OR and wouldn't want them damaged or lost. But I'll feel naked for sure.
Although odds are once my iv is in and I get my anxiety meds I won't care about any of this stuff

I hope everything goes well with your surgery. I agree about following instruction on taking the nail polish off your toes. If you don't there's a good chance they'll do it for you when you get there anyway and I'm sure you'll do a much neater job of it than they would!
Good luck!

After nearly 3 years of waiting our LO was born December 18th 2012!
yes, there is a reason for it. eggs are VERY sensitive to fragrance/smells. (who knew!?!?) my nurse was explaining it to me. I felt naked too...but what I did was just bring a bag in the car with my deodorant (and anything else you want for after) so I could immediately put it on
I even used just unscented moisturizer that morning and that was it. and as far as the toes go - bring socks! I can't believe I forgot this time and thought they'd have some for me and they didn't
my feet were numb!! so with socks no one will see your feet anyway
btw...all these instructions are the same for the ET too due to the little embies sensitivity. bottom line - with all you're going through to get here..it's only about 1.5 hours that you'll feel naked. good luck!
You'll be fine. Good luck with your surgery hon
I'd follow the instructions.
I had no nail polish, no wedding ring for the entire month I was in the hospital and add to that no shower or washing my hair for 3 wks. and no deodorant for 2 wks. Don't worry and don't feel self conscious. Get a new polish color for your husband to paint your toes afterwards so you can look forward to that.
And yes, they will remove the nail polish if you don't.
When is your surgery schedule?
