TTC after 35

Follow up on the girl that told me to drink vinegar

She just left my office after an hour long conversation.  We spent time going over my charts and talking about being well informed about IF.  She is not going to drink the vinegar until after she talks to the RE.  She is getting a BBT and signing up for FF.  She is also going to read TCOYF.  I am really glad that she sent me the crazy IM.  She also asked me if she could run all things by me before she does anything stupid.

I am thinking of giving her my TCOYF, by CBEFM, and my BBT.  I hope that I helped her to get good information.

  • You would be a great nurse or teacher. (I have no idea what you do when you're not TTC.)

I can't believe she was ready to start drinking random things without having done any of the things you've suggested. Why start at crazy when you can take the scenic route and get there after at least a couple months??

  • How cool that she's got you to look to for information!!!!  I wish that I had someone to talk to about all of this stuff years ago!

  • I didn't see the first post, but you are so nice to help her out. If she had come to me, I doubt I would have been so patient with her after such a weird start.
  • The title of this post makes me crack up :)

I actually do have a degree in nursing but have not practiced in years.

She has actually been trying for many years.  She just never had anyone tell her about charting, fertility monitors, or anything else.  I have my big TTC kit to hand off to her.  I hope that she is not insulted by it.

  • I think she will appreciate it. She may have been trying for years, but clearly not with all the facts, so that her attempts now may be better timed.

I've never related well to people who don't try to get more information about these things. Like my coworker-- a CNA-- who was trying for 7 years and JUST decided to run an SA (found out he has zero swimmers). Don't get it at all.

    You're a good egg, Lady.

  • Apple cider vinegar is a very popular home remedy (do a Google search) and there is some evidence that it provides relief for a number of ailments (although I'm guessing instant cure from fertility woes isn't one of them).  The amount you are supposed to intake is very small, however (a spoonful in a large glass of water), and would be the equivalent of using the vinegar as a salad dressing.  Probably not helpful, but probably not harmful.  In any case, her RE can advise her.

  • I gave her all of the stuff.  When she came to my office she got so excited.  Her DH had told her last night that he was really ready for a baby and wanted to know what they could do to make it happen.  They sent me a really nice email.  I told that she could thank me by naming the baby after me.
