DD turns 2 on Sunday. The articles say that toddlers should stay rear facing as long as the car seat allows. According to my car seat, DD can remain rear facing until she hits 40 lbs!? She is on 24.5 lbs now. I plan on asking the doctor's opinion/advice at her appointment on Monday... but my inclination is to leave her rear facing as long as possible (at least as her legs allow). Has anyone else left their LO rear facing past the age of 2? How long to plan on keeping your LO rear facing?
Thanks!

Bubblegum Explosion
My son just turned 2 last month and we plan to keep him rear-facing for a long time. My husband thinks it's too hard to get him in & out and thought he would be happier forward-facing, so I agreed to talk to the pedi about it at his 2 year appointment. She agreed with me that it is best to keep him rear-facing as long as possible so now my husband is on board with it. My son is in the 3rd & 5th percentiles for height & weight so he has a long time to go. Our pedi said especially with his small size it is best to keep him rear-facing.
I'm not sure that we will go until we hit the rear-facing limits on the seat because our seat has high limits and with his size he could be pretty old before he hits the limits. I have no plans to take him to kindergarten rear-facing, but I do plan to keep him rear-facing until he is at least 3, probably longer.
