Are you washing all the baby clothes you are getting? I have just been washing sizes 0-3.
Also, I got a lot of hand-me-downs. I guess I should just wash all those now since they are used anyway?
Any thoughts on this? I know some people leave the tags on certain stuff, but I am not sure why.

Re: Washing baby clothes?
I washed all the hand-me downs.
My plan on new clothes is to wait until she's here and I know what size she's in. Then I'll wash the new clothes as she gets to that size. (I've got the used clothing to bridge for a bit.)
If you are worried that you have way too much stuff or that your baby won't fit into the newborn clothes, you could leave the tags on so that you can return some items that are too small.
If not, go ahead and wash them.
I am an equal-opportunity washer. And a little bit OCD.
But don't worry, there will be plenty of laundry loads in the future! If you find that you need something or something got left out the first time, there will be time to slip it into another load after the baby gets here.
I washed everything with my son and wished I hadn't. We received a lot of gifts I wasn't crazy about and figured we would use them if we absolutely had to (and I felt guilty returning gifts), but we ended up with so many clothes we never used a lot of it. It's not a big deal, but if you ever want to sell your clothes to a consignment store or at a sale, you can often get more if they still have tags on them. Also, some stores will let you exchange without a receipt even if it's for a different item or store credit. You might not get as much as you would have if you had the receipt, but you can still get something.
I do buy a lot of clothes at a consignment store, so I wash all of that since there aren't tags on it anyway and it can't be returned after a few days. I also wash everything I receive as hand-me-downs. If I buy something I will wash it because it obviously means I like it and if someone else gives me something I like I will wash it. If I'm unsure about an item I will leave the tags on until I know I want it.
I wouldn't bother washing anything too far in advance in case sizes don't match with seasons, etc. But I would go ahead and wash newborn & 0-3 stuff that you know you want to keep.
