Sippy cup

My DS still doesn't get the whole idea of a sippy cup. He'll drink out of it but only if I hold it for him. He doesn't understand the whole tipping it up concept. Anyone else in the same boat? And if you were, what did you do to get him/her to learn how to use it?

DD still isn't a fan, but the Tippy sippy cups we have help with her not having to tip the cup up so far.  You might want to check them out!  My only complaint is that they don't have handles.

  • On the inside of the lid there should be a valve that restricts flow. If you take this out the water or whatever will come out very easily. With my dd I let her try out her sippy this way just so she would learn that there is stuff inside. When she got the hang of it I replaced the valve because it does make a bit of a mess.

Also, my dd loves this thing.

Its a straw sippy so she doesn't have to turn it upside down to drink.

  • My DD is the same way. She has NO concept on how it works. I'm not sure she even knows how to sip from it if I hold it up. DS was taking a sippy cup at 6 months so she is really throwing me off....LOL.

  • I like the munchkin ones and they are on sale at BRU right now.  DS has completely switched over from bottles to this sippy.  I am pretty sure we just got lucky that he knows what to do with it because he loves to eat. I give it to him in his chair, for a meal when there is formula in it, and then I have one that he can drink water from throughout the day.

The only thing is that the amazon reviews aren't good for long term use.  We'll see...

This. You can sit your LO in the tub while s/he is practicing to lessen the mess!
