....What is your nursery theme going to be? post pics if you have any.
This is boy #3 for me, but we didnt know what we were having for #1 so the nursery was neutral for #1 and #2. We just moved this past October so I promised myself, boy or girl, I was going to make this a gender specific room. We found out we are having another boy so now I am looking for ideas and am just wondering what everyone is thinking of doing!
Re: If you are having a boy.....
We chose this theme the week we found out we were pregnant. Turned out we are having a boy, but I think it can go with both genders.
I let DH pick the theme for our nursery, thinking he would go with sports or a nautical theme. He picked Winnie the Pooh. It came out really cute and I can't imagine it being any other way now.
Originally this is what I was leaning towards for our nursery:

DH and I married 8 years. Mom of three, stepmom of one.
We are doing a western theme. We have two beddings picked out, but couldn't decide on which one to go with, so we added both of them to our registry to see which one we get and then choose from there. Below are the links to the bedding sets that we like.

We're not really doing a "theme".
We're doing light gray walls with blue, turquoise, green and orange accents and white furniture. We're not buying a bedding set, just sheets & a crib skirt, which I'm making so we'll just find some cute fabric to go with our color scheme.
link 1: Something kind of like this, but there will be more blue, less orange and the accents will be a little more subtle.
link 2: or this.

Robots. I want to do decal and paint the room a slate grey. We are moving next month so it's just a vision for now. Something like this but I havent decided if I'm so hot on the evil robot though.

I despise themes so we just chose blue and brown for DS's room. His crib bedding was white, blue, brown circles and dots and found other accents to go along with the colors. It made it so much easier when transitioning his room to a "big boy room." We bought neutral bedding (I cannot stand character stuff if you couldn't tell) and let DS pick out a picture he liked for his wall. It eneded up being a very large canvas from TJ Maxx of a pirate ship so I was completely fine with that. This one is also a boy so we will be picking out colors that work well together and go that route again.
I'm not into themes at all, but here are pics of my DS nursery.

DH is a pilot so we are doing this:
My precious angel Ryan Caleb passed away to his heavenly home a few short hours after birth due to hydrops 7.5.2012 @ 30 weeks.
I love that first link!!!! And I like the non-theme thing.......ive been looking at a lot of bedding and stuff and some of it just seems so "hokey"
For my twin boys, I went with a fish/underwater theme because we were putting our fish tank in their bedroom and just thought it would tie nicely together.
If I went back and was able to do it again, I wouldn't have done that. As they get older, the 'baby' bedding just doesn't fit for toddler boys.
This time around we are having a girl and even if I had a boy again, I knew I wasn't going to do a 'theme' for the above reason. I picked out a white/pink/brown damask pattern that will go nicely with the white furniture.
We are doing owls whether it's a boy or a girl.
I love the aliens/outer space theme, though! Lots of cute nursery ideas in this post!
With DS1 we did an "under the sea" theme and when people bought him stuff that didn't match I almost didn't want to put it in the nursery because it didn't fit in. 20 months later you can hardly tell there was a theme to begin with. He already has an opinion of what should go in his room.. like his car rug and his favorite red snowflake blanket from Christmas. Whatever, it makes him happy. lol
For DS2, we just figured we'd go with the main colors and let the room just happen instead of trying to keep up the "perfect" nursery.

For DS, we did blue/green/yellow/brown. Solid brown sheets, white breathable bumper, and no skirt. I bought 6 pictures from the same artist on Etsy of a pale yellow bird doing things like: skateboarding, surfing, riding a bike, playing the drums, playing guitar, and another one that I can't think of right now. We had a skateboard on the wall with our last name on it. A book sling I made out of fabric with green/blue/yellow/and red colors and the design was a little boy doing things like climbing a tree, skateboarding, riding a bike. DH has a huge gorilla from when he was a kid that we put in the room too. I love his room because it is just a mix of things we loved.
I have the same basic room planed for a boy or girl for this baby. Colors: Aqua, Yellow, Grey, with orange accents and woodland animal accents. Something like this but with more yellow because we are leaving our guest bed in the room that has a solid yellow quilt:

If we have a boy, this will be similar to what we'll do. Navy, red, etc.
(If we have a girl, I'm doing the nautical thing with yellow and navy for my older DD.)
I don't like nursery themes, so we didn't have one. We painted the walls a bluish-grey, and did all the accents in white, cream, and dark brown, with more colorful accents on the shelves (like antique toys, stuffed animals, etc.). This way, we could bring in whatever color we wanted as far as future bedding, toys, wall art, etc., and it's worked out perfectly so far! It's making a great transition into a big-boy room.
I really want this theme from BRU: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11914989&fromRegistryNumber=47848538&product_skn=779696
My sister and I are going to start buying it before my baby shower because it's on clearance, and I love it. My husband is going to paint the nursery this weekend. We're going with U of NC colors.
We are going with a puppy sports theme. So cute!!!

We start with an element and build from there. For our first I decided I wanted owls and so she has everything owl! It has become a little bit of a joke but still fun. For baby boy I think we are going with sharks. Not scary great-white sharks... but baby friendly sharks. His name is Finn so its a little bit of a pun.
I think its fun to choose an animal because you have so many options and can take it as far as you like! Good luck with your decorating... I'm off to find some shark fabric...
nautical/sailboats/ocean theme.
this is the "inspiration" pic. Walls are a lighter version of the green, and we have cute little sailboat/anchor/lighthouse hooks that we were given ages ago in an antique blue/white. Furniture is a honeyish oak. We did register for the bedding set and some of the other stuff that is available at BRU, but the only thing we are absolutely getting if it doesn't get bought off the registry is the crib sheet and the bumper. MIL is going to turn the bumper into a curtain valance for us. We're focusing more on the colors, and just adding little decor bits here and there.
We're doing a blue and green for the colors, with woodland animals for the decor.
We are doing the same! 2 walls are gray and 2 walls are gray/white horizontal stripes. We are using green, turquoise, orange and red as accent colors. We figured we'd end up with so many toys that it would get cluttered with a theme- or we would get sick of it.
I did fall in love with the Construction Zone bedding from Land of Nod...but they no longer make it and are out of crib blankets(I was going to use it with the glider until our son was older). I originally loved their Dream On bedding (hubby plays bass/guitar and we have his guitar hanging in the nursery) but it doesn't come in crib bedding...so sad.
So now, I am at a loss for what to do for the crib
We're renting so we cant paint the walls but we are doing a neutral green and brown elephant crib set/nursery decorations. We plan on having more kids and wanted something we could reuse.
I think the cars, trains, and planes themes are cute for little boys - there is so much you can with it from paint to decorations! If we could paint I would probably do that!
We are doing penguins and polar bears. The walls will be painted blue and then a blue/black/white stripe pattern below the chair rail. We had black furniture and the glider has black/white fabric so we had to incorporate that.
Our 3 year old moved out of the gender neutral nursery and into his big boy room, which is a sports theme.
We are also doing this theme! It's so cute

We are totally doing that too
