Anyone get paid once a month?

How do you do your groceries? I usually shop at one time and make Costco runs and the grocery run then two weeks later replenish what is low but I don't think this is really working well for me. What do you do?

Both DH and I get paid once a month, usually the same day. I go grocery shopping the first of the month and buy everything I can. Any perishables get replenished as needed (fruit, salad, etc) but otherwise we are usually stocked and I don't buy anything else. I also coupon so normally my monthly trips aren't that bad.

I used to, and I hated it. It was really hard for me to learn how to budget that way.

Do you meal plan? If you knew what you would be cooking for the weeks/month, it might help?

We both did for a long time, not my husband is the only one. We still shopped with a weekly budget even when we got paid once a month though.

Meal plan two weeks out. Grocery shopping every two weeks.

DH gets paid once a month (on the 1st), but I get paid twice a month (1st and 15th). But I only pay bills once a month on the 1st.

We charge practically everything though. We do it because we earn points, and we pay off the balance each month. It also makes it easier for me to track our purchases than when we pay cash. So I keep track of my spending throughout the month, and then pay off the previous month's purchases when I get paid on the 1st.

I get paid once a month and DH gets paid every 2 weeks. We use cash, so I take out the budgeted amount for groceries at the beginning of the month and then go shopping every week. DH and I go to Sam's Club at the beginning of the month to get bulk items.

Like the PP, I don't get how getting paid 1x versus 2x or 4x a month has anything to do with buying groceries. We plan out our spending, and make sure we have enough to pay for groceries. We know a range of what we spend per week on groceries.

I am paid 1x a month, and have always been paid that way since I started teaching 10 years ago.

DH is paid sporadically, so we have to plan ahead, always...

I do but DH is 2X/mo. We shop 1X per week and are ahead of things in our account so haven't run into issues.

Since we use a cash envelope system, I "pay myself" grocery money twice a month even though we get paid once a month.

This is what I do, too. The *worst* for me is summer, because I get my pay for June, July, and August all on June 15th, and then don't get paid again until the last business day of September. That makes summer budgeting really hard.

I get paid once a month, but DH does every two weeks. We usually do a big grocery store trip once a month and then replenish things about once a week. Seems like I am always going to the grocery store!

We use credit cards and pay them off when our paychecks come in at the end of the month. I got a Costco American Express card, which I LOVE since I get money back each year to spend there!

We shop once a week at the grocery store, every other week at the local farmers market, and about every 2-3 months we do a big Costco run. We budge out monthly food expenses, including eating out, and dont go over it. Whatever we don't spend is put into our investment as additional savings and we also pay for everything (minus Costco) on credit to earn points. We pay off our cc bill in full each month.

These questions always make me LOL because I've almost always been paid monthly (or only 10 months of the year in which case I set aside money to pay myself back the other two months.) I was paid bi-weekly for a while and it was so hard because one check was almost totally gone after I paid rent!

I just set the $$ aside.
