High-Risk Pregnancy

Lovenox dosage? please check in..

Im 4 weeks today and I will be starting lovenox as soon as my second beta results are out due to Factor V Leiden (hetro) have history or massive DVT and PE.

Guidelines recommend either 40ml once a day or twice a day (80), my hematologist recommends I go for the 40/day but says it is up to me if I want to be extra cautious and go for twice a day and i dont know what to do!

How much is the doze you are on?

If this is not your first pregnancy, how was it the first time? is it easy? risky?

TIA!!

  • I'm on 40 twice a day.  I wasn't given a choice, either.  I wasn't on Lovenox for my first pregnancy (I'm only on it this time because I had a pulmonary embolism post c-sec with DS1) so I have nothing to compare it to, but it really hasn't been that bad.  Just part of the routine, kind of like taking prenatals :)

  • I'm on 40 1/day but no history of PE or clots.
  • I've had pre-e with all my deliveries, and was just admitted today for it again....

I'm on Lovenox 40, but am switching to Heparin on Thursday in anticipation of delivery.

    Good luck!

(Oh, and aside from it's cost and the fact that, yeah, it's a self-injected needle....it's not too bad.  Just another thing you just suck up and do for the sake of your baby.)

  • I have ASP and am on 80mgs/twice a day along with a baby aspirin. It you are worried that doing it twice a day will be harm full, dont. There are more women out there that do it twice a day then just once.

I have gotten use to having to give it to myself twice a day, but like said above you will do what it takes for your little one! Best of luck to you!

  • I'm homozygous Factor V leiden with a history of PE and DVT pre pregnancy.  My doctor said if I'm on Lovenox it's 80mg 2x a day.  Instead they have me on Fragmin which is 15000 units 1x a day (which I greatly prefer).  I also have to have my Factor Xa Assy test done every so often to make sure my dosage keeps me in a theraputic range.

I start heparin next week which will be 1000 units 3x a day.  Not really looking forward to all of those needles, but hey, got to do what ya got to do.

I was on 40ml once a day for MTHFR, compound hetero. This is my first pregnancy on it. I just switched to heparin today which is twice a day. Lovenox is fairly easy since it's already filled syringes.

I had a clot while on birth control, so when I started TTC and IF treatments, I had to start on the thinners.  For me that was 14 months ago.
