DS will not drink milk. He will drink water from a sippy but not milk. I would like to start weaning him but I am concerned because I can not get him to drink WCM. If your LO didn't like WCM how did you get them to drink it?
I mixed vanilla almond milk in with the whole milk and he drank it down. I think because the vanilla sweet flavor. Then I slowly reduced the amount of almond milk and eventually got to just whole milk.
We did a little carnation instant breakfast for about a month only like a tsp. it took a month and we weaned her from that. She has no problems now.
Edit: it was not ideal, but we tried hot cold, different milks, 5 different sippy cups, I even once put it in a bottle. She was excited to see the bottle and then threw it at me after she tasted it. The instant breakfast worked so we went with it. We just mixed less each week, the one day she took it straight.
LO would drink milk out of bottles but not any other way. We are currently on day 3 of no bottles and he has not had a sip of milk. He drinks tons of water from sippies and he gets 3 servings of yogurt. If your kid wont drink milk just make sure they are getting dairy in other forms.
We flavor it with yogurt, chocolate syrup or strawberry syrup (reduced sugar). We tried Carnation and he hated it. He also gets dairy in other forms and sometimes Pediasure if he hasn't been drinking what he should. He does drink plain milk but sometimes we have to do the flavoring to get him to drink enough.
Eh, DD doesn't like milk either. She will have some cheese and yogurt on occasion, but not straight up cows milk. Whatever. Cow milk isn't manna from heaven, and there are other (better) sources of calcium and other sources of protein and fat and calories. You can try alternatives (coconut, almond, soy, hemp, etc.) or other cow dairy products (cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.), or putting it in things (pancakes, smoothies, etc.). And not worry too much.
