Eating Fish improved my supply

Hello everyone. Thought I would share what I have discovered in hopes that it may work for some of you.

Last month I spent two weekends in a row at my MIL's house for family events. Each time I pumped while there I pumped out 6oz total instead of my usual 3-3.5 oz during the day. (On a normal day my first morning pump is 6 oz). I thought it was strange but didnt read much into it and was just happy for the extra milk (DD eats about 3 oz a feeding so what i was pumping was enough for her). Three weeks have passed since I was there last and yesterday the same thing happened. I pumped out 6 oz during each pumping session. I told my DH this and he thought it was just being in the "country." I informed him that it wasnt because we are back home in Atlanta. Then it hit me. Each time I was there I ate the same thing at lunch and dinner that I ate yesterday and that was fish (tilapia and freshwater). I ate it fried but Im sure grilled or baked wont change anything. Just thought I would share to see if anyone else was willing to try and see if it worked for them. It could just be all in my head but the days I don't eat fish Im back to my 3-3.5 total throughout the day.

Re: Eating Fish improved my supply

  • Interesting. I have a really low supply and I'm taking everything under the sun to increase it, but I'm actually about to put some Tilapia in the oven, so after lunch I'll let you know!  Was your increase immediate, or a few hours later?
