I am just entering my third trimester and trying on a maxi dress to wear to an occasion. An older woman commented that I was "carrying well". Does anyone know what this really means?
I got that all the time. I'm already overweight, so I was told I had to lose weight (at least 10 pounds) and not gain any. I ended up losing 40 lbs over the course of my pregnancy, (which sparked rumors in my workplace that I was faking my pregnancy for attention. HA!!) and everyone told me that I was "carrying so well!" Looking back, I guess I did look pretty good during my pregnancy
Unfortunately, some women's looks seem to change during pregnancy, including their faces, swelling in extremeties (me), etc. To me, to be carrying well means you are looking good!

I would take it to mean that it looks like your baby is growing in your stomach vs. your rear end. Pregnancy weight gain doesn't always go where it supposed to.

This! I was told by a few people that I was "carrying well" although I was HUGE...it was mostly all tummy though (and face. lol)
