This could be for first-time or second-time moms, but what do you plan or have you done for sleeping arrangements once baby is home? I plan to breastfeed and would like the babies in our room for the 1st few months. Do you plan to register for a pack-in-play or bassinet?
Re: Sleeping arrangements for newborn
We had a bassinet in our room assuming baby would sleep in there at night in the beginning and had a pack n play in the living room.
Ds slept in the bassinet for less then 3 weeks. Then to his crib he went. I couldn't sleep at all with him in our room he was so loud at night.
I loved having the pack n play in the living room so I had a place to put him for naps without having to have him in his room. I liked that I had a place to lay him no matter where I was. The bassinet was on wheels so sometimes I would even bring it in the kitchen if I was doing dishes or dinner. Im glad I got the bassinet second hand for 20 bucks though as we barely used it. Ds also spent a lot of time just hanging out in the swing so the pack n play probably wouldn't have been needed really. Im glad ill have it this time around though to protect the new baby from ds when im not right there.
We're not splurging for a bassinet this time round, my son was only in it for maybe a few weeks and that was it. We're going to get a pack n play for the living room and maybe just cart it from the bedroom to the living room..thing is we're looking for a house and I don't know if we will be moved into a new place and whether the baby will have his/her own room so I'm not even thinking about a crib in our room just yet. We'll be purchasing a swing as well, I never used one with my first 2 kids and holy co I don't know why I didn't because my mom got us one 2nd hand with my 3rd baby and he slept like a rock and I had some peace!! lol Overall, you will find what works for you guys best when the time comes
Are you getting a twin bassinet/pack-n-play or plan on putting them both in one?
I've been considering that brand...have you used it before?
I am also assuming that LO will be in with us more then in their own bed/co-sleeper....but liked the look of this brand!

For my son, we used a cradle (that DH's grandpa made) next to our bedside. After a few months (maybe 7?), we moved DS into the crib in his room for overnights. Up til that point, we did transition with naps being in his crib for awhile before putting him in his room for all sleep sessions. We plan to use the same cradle for #2 when s/he is born in October. I think we may try to transition to crib earlier though. Everyone slept better once that happened.
We do have a pack n play that for #1 we used in the living room and as a nap and play option for awhile (along with the swing -- sometimes he was picky about where he'd nap). It was also great for weekends at the grandparents' house. Pack n plays are very nice!
We are considering an arm's reach cosleeper, or a convertible crib side car to the bed, or maybe a pack and play with a bassinet. Not sure what we're going to do yet...we'll be in a one bedroom apartment until baby is around 8mo old atleast, and we'd like I avoid getting too much semi redundant baby gear.

With DS, we used a bassinet next to our bed for the first month or so. Then he moved to the pack & play in our room. DS moved to his crib in his room at about 4 1/2 months.
This time around we're thinking about getting a co-sleeper to attach to our bed and leaving the pack & play in the living room for naps. Our new LO will probably be in our room the same amount of time as DS.

With DD we had a bassinet &planned for her to be in there during the night next to our bed, but I nursed & she usually ended up in bed with us(a lot of the time I nursed laying down because I didn't have a comfortable chair & would fall asleep as well
).
She was pretty picky about sleeping in her bassinet & we barely used the crib in her room(we had a roommate & her room as at the other end of the house from us). It took a long time to get her out of our bed & willing to sleep in her own.
We are hoping to be more diligent this time around & use a pack 'n play that has the bassinet part as well in our room at night & make sure baby sleeps in the crib in his/her room at least 1-2 times a day for naps so it'll hopefully be an easier transition. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed.)
We've used it for both kids and love it.
