TTC After a Loss

My hair is not blonde just my brain...(nttcal story)

hopefully you will get a laugh out of how sacred I was over nothing.. :)

This morning I was in the kitchen when I saw through the window my dogs take off running towards the drive way like someone was here. We live out in the country down a long dirt driveway. We don't have any neighbors within sight. This always scares me being so alone because as I told DH, "There is no one to hear me scream!" Anyways, I went to our bedroom and looked out the window towards the dirt area where we park our vehicles. I didn't see any car besides ours, but I did see a man walk around the front of our house to the porch where our front door is. I was terrified because he must have walked through the woods or down our dirt road. DH happened to call at that minute. I told him the situation and that I couldn't remember if the door was locked. "get my gun," he told me. I got it and hid underneath the bedroom window.

"What did he look like do you see him?" "I don't know what he looks like i saw him only fast. He's just standing on the porch!" A few minutes later I saw the man walk over to my husbands truck and start checking the tires. "He's just kicking your tires!" I told DH. "What?" "He's kicking your tires!" DH pauses for a minute, "I'm at work."

Then I realized whoever that man was he had drove up and not walked. He had a similar  truck as DH and in the same color, parked where DH parks! My crazy mind didn't even realize it couldn't be DH. As the man drove off DH told me, "Go look on the porch." I looked on the porch and there was a couple of boxes. DH said he had ordered some books on-line and it was the mailman I was scared to death by. I felt so stupid! I forget that in the country the mailmen drive normal vehicles and where normal clothes. I had never had a package delivered to the house by the post office before so it is not my fault I was so confused! :)

Anyways, hopefully you will get a laugh out of my craziness. poor mailman, if only he know there was a woman sitting under the window in the bedroom holding a gun! (just for the record, don't worry, I would never shoot unless someone was actually in the act of killing me and even then I don't know if i would)

Oh and one more thing, I don't know how I didn't know it wasn't DH's truck because DH has two 8 foot pieces of plywood mounted on his truck that say, "Ron Paul 2012, Restore America Now." Kinda hard to miss. :)

  • LOL!!!  I probably would have been just as scared.  I made DH install an alarm system when we built our house.  I get so nervous when he is gone at night, especially if my dog starts to bark.  For some reason, that really makes me feel vulnerable!

  • I would have been so scared too!  I'm glad it was just the postal worker.  Our minds work in strange ways when the fight or flight instinct takes over!

Bwahaha! I grew up out in the country and I hated when people/cars I didn't know would come back our road. I scared the crap out of one of my cousins (we were close and ran around together a lot) and his friends one night. They thought they would surprise me and came creeping back the drive without their lights on, but my dad and I happened to be out locking up the barn for the night and heard the tires on the gravel. When they finally pulled up to the house, I was on the porch and Dad was in front of the garage with the shotguns ready. They never did it again.

    too funny!
