at my witts end and out of ideas... has anyone tried loud music to lull lo to sleep?

my dd is the worst napper and cio hasnt worked at all for naps. i now rock her to sleep and hold her for 15 min before attempt to put her dwn, but eventhough she is out cold i my arms as soon as i lay her down or about 5 min after i leave the room she wakes. it takes about a hour of this just to get her to sleep 20 min. in the car we can turn the music up loud and she is out! just wondering if loud music in her room would work or is that a awful idea?

  • Try this Baby Got Colic on Youtube. It is white noise that works miracles on my son. I put it on full blast and he is out within minutes.

Just don't look at the pictures...it's a bit creepy.

  • i have a white noise machine but it dont work. this poor child wakes up from her naps grumpy and is grumpy all day cause she only sleeps 15 to 20 min. i have a 3 year old that i feel im neglecting cause of the amount of time i spend trying to get her to sleep.
  • how long are you letting her CIO that it's not "working"?  naps are tough, it takes up to an hour consistently to have it work.  if you can't bear to do it, that's totally fine but it usually does work if you stick with it.

  • I think she is too old to be out down asleep. That is very confusing for a baby of this age because they are aware of their surroundings -- they fall asleep one place and then wake up somewhere totally different. If you have been trying to combine that with CIO, that's why CIO isn't working. I would work on getting her down drowsy but awake in the crib. Then ferber or if you do not want CIO, shh pat in crib. She needs to learn to fall asleep, on her own, in the crib. That is the issue. Adding a sleep crutch like loud music or getting used to the carseat won't fix the real problem.

  • DD sleeps on her belly, so when she's sleepy we lay her down and pat her back until she's out. She cries and fusses, but eventually calms down and falls asleep. If she gets real upset, I pick her up and comfort her. As soon as she's calmed she goes back in the crib. It took a lot of work to get to this point, so be patient. I know it can be frustrating!
