Ha, not at all flame worthy in my opinion.  I received it as a gift, but I will purchase if anything happens to the one we have.  It is E's favorite toy.  I hope your LO enjoys as much as E does!

  • I am using the swing again to get LO to sleep at night. He was sleeping in his crib perfectly, but when I went back to work he stopped. After 2 weeks of sleepless nights, I was getting dizzy and scared to drive.

I will retrain him to sleep in his crib in 3 weeks when I finish work.

Thanks, So far she is enjoying it (got it Wednesday night).  It is still up in the air though if its worth the cost...

Sophie's lifespan is uncertain at this point...I did not know she came with a squeaker and we have a dog...

My puppy will take it if we leave it on the floor or anywhere he can reach.  So far, he hasn't destroyed it, but she has been washed a billion times because I've found her in the place our puppy likes to take his 'special' toys.

I am so proud you are doing what you need to do to function!  I just had Lucas' four month appt and and I broke down to the pedi about not sleeping and using the swing and RnP blah blah and she goes, "I don't discuss sleep until six months. You do what you need to for you both to get sleep. Swing, rock, RnP, car, whatever. ". I know a ton of people disagree but she said bad habits won't form yet and/or can be fixed. Right now my sanity is more important. Also, a calmer happier mama vibe helps our babies. Anyway, I've been thinking about you and am really happy you "caved"

Thanks! I feel much better. The last bad night was getting to be too much for me to handle. It is not safe or healthy to go without sleep for that long!

I hope things are going well for you and Lucas!

E has been super fussy lately and putting everything in her mouth...I have tried teething toys that freeze, her regular toys, etc...

my mom and I were at BRU getting breathable bumpers and Sophie was there on an end cap just looking at me...I grabbed her on a whim...I felt kind of guilty later, but a part of me felt like spoiling DD a bit because her Daddy is gone for a bit and it made me feel better Embarrassed

Our little guy was sleeping perfectly in his crib as well...then he got sick do we put him in the RNP in our room.  He's been over his cold for a couple weeks but wont sleep for any length of time in the crib.  He sleeps 9-7 in the rnp in our room.  After a couple of sleepiness nights for everyone trying to get him in the crib, we've given up for now.  It's just not worth going to work exhausted and all of us being angry and frustrated and miserable right now.

You are definitely not alone.  We will all get to where we need to be eventually.

  • I just want to quit EP!!!  I've never been to the point of just wishing my supply would dry up completely on its own as I have this week... (I EP when DD was a baby for 9mo and didn't have nearly the issues that I've been having this time around)

I'm also peeved because at DS' 4mo appointment he was all smiles and giggles so when I went to complain about his overall being an excessively fussy baby I got strange looks and told "He appears to be just fine!" (other than when he slept overnight he's been in full meltdown screams unless he's being rocked in my arms ever since)..

  • Playing off a couple of PP:

1~ I fully intend of buying DD a sophie next time I see one at a store but I hate ordering things online when I cant get free shipping.

2~ DD still sleeps in her RnP and I have no plans to move her until she is 6 months. She sleeps 9pm-8am every night and momma likes her sleep!

Now for mine, DD has been in a mommy only phase for over 3 weeks and I am sick of it! She even screamed at DH a few times. Now I just watch her scream while other people hold her and wait til they hand her back. Seriously, we are talking family she sees every week and she just looks at their face and cries. You would think that I feed her chocolate when no one is looking.

Thank you for posting this!  I've been getting up with my LO 6-7 times a night for the past few months, and for the last 2 days, I've been getting really dizzy throughout the day.  It never occurred to me that it was likely from exhaustion.  She sleeps great in her swing, but not so great (understatement of the year) in her crib.  I've been wanting to move her swing into the nursery for a while now, but I think I'll do it tonight.

  • BWAAHHAA!  I did too!  Along with breathable bumpers because I was paranoid about the other ones despite what DH said.  I told him "what if it WASN'T okay one morning when we went in there..." then he admitted I was right.  He DIDN'T know how much Sophie was though and my little Sophie loves it:)  Daddy doesn't have to know about all of DD's new outfits either- I splurged!  Big Smile

  • We had a "Sophie incident" this weekend. DS had his Sophie on the floor while my nephew, who is 10 mos. old, crawled around and stole the show.  He saw E's Sophie and immediately went for it. My nephew's Sophie got retired since he has most of his teeth, but he sure remembered that squeak and popped DS's Sophie in his mouth. It was precious and disgusting at the same time.

  • My FFFC has nothing to do with Sophie...

I am afraid that DH will not do anything for me for Mother's Day.  We are in a tough financial spot but we do have some money in savings that could be used to get me a gift.  I feel like a selfish b!tch but for Christmas I willingly volunteered to give up my present so we could get a package of hospital newborn pictures.  For Valentine's Day he gave me NOTHING on the actual day, then he brought me home some candy the next day after I raised a big stink.

I know it's not about the gifts, but this is my first Mother's Day as a mom, and it's a tough day for me because my own mom is gone, and I would really like a pleasant surprise.

  • I paid full price for a Sophie and LO is only sort of interested in it.  The dog, on the other hand, can't wait to get her paws on it.

I've read that the reason Sophie is so popular is that when it first came out it was the only BPA free toy.  Now the whole BPA free thing has caught on, but Sophie's reputation endures.

    Sad

Don't feel like a selfish ***! We all have emotional needs! You deserve a nice surprise.

I can spin from this a bit as a FFFC---I recently gave DH a bit of a guilt trip over holidays/gifts/etc. He doesn't usually forget. I usually just end up with half hearted stuff. Like for Christmas I got a coupon organizer. Useful, yeah. Something I felt special about---nope. I'm not a materialistic person normally. I don't care for brand names, don't really like shopping that much, etc. But I would LOVE to have a few pieces that I remember just when I got them, why I got them, and how surprised I was by them.

I still get upset that DH didn't put much thought into my wedding rings. I got a mixer from DH as a wedding gift (only after bragging about how cool the gift was I got him). And that I didn't get anything when our son was born. Those were the moments I wish to remember fondly and a nice keepsake would have been great for each. It's something that (selfishly) breaks my heart but it's not really something that could have been helped without spelling it out for him. I'm jealous of those women that will get to pass down a piece of jewelry to their children and say "your father gave me this on our wedding day/the day you were born/etc".

This from the guy that got me flowers each month we dated (26 months straight) and on an everyday basis treats me like a princess. So I should be flamed for not counting my lucky stars!

We have this one AND the regular one. DS really likes the non-squeaking one. The regular one is just now being noticed. I don't feel too bad about them because I got like a groupon deal and got them both for $17. Otherwise I'd probably still be whining that I want her.

  • I dont get what the big fuss is over receiving gifts. Maybe I am missing something? The only gifts H has gotten me is my wedding band and for this past valentines day he got me the twilight movies lol. I am not huge on celebrating my own birthday and to me presents are really for kids.

Also I get annoyed when people tell me to feed my child rice cereal. My child will not eat it. If they want to when they are older sure why not they can make their own choices but no... Just because it is fortified with Iron does not mean its good for you...

  • I'm jealous of Kwinkle being done with school in three weeks.  We still have 5 and a half.  (I know, you probably started earlier in August, but I'm still jealous!)

My LO will most likely grow up Sophie-less.

I'm annoyed with people on Pinterest who don't give good descriptions of their pins.  It drives me crazy when I see a picture of food with the description "I have to make this NOW" or a picture of beautiful scenery with the description "On my bucket list"   Tell me what the food is or where you have to go!! (maybe more of a vent...)

Yeah, it is sweet to be done early, however our school days are ungodly long (7:30-3:30 with one 20 minute lunch) and we start the 1st full week in August.
