  • I'm tired, cranky and pissy. DH is away on business and Luke is cutting a tooth. He's sleeping like crap. Last night he was up at 10, 2, 2:45, 5, then up for the day at 6 because he pooped. Then DD was up at 6:05 because he woke her.

I'm totally laying on the couch with them watching "Iceage." We haven't even eaten breakfast yet. Embarrassed

  • The other day during lunch I told DD to stop wiping her hands on her shirt and use her napkin or the ants were going to come and have a snack when she went down for a nap. Well she laughed at me at the time then had a complete breakdown when she thought she saw a bug on the wall later that day-- it took me 45 minutes to convince her it was just a shadow.  That was 3 days ago. She is still wary of bugs and shadows.

Mommy fail, I traumatized my kid with my stupid mouth.

  • There are 3 loads of laundry to be folded in our armchair, one in the dryer, one in the washer, a dishwasher full of clean dishes, and a sink full of dirty ones, and I spent all evening last night on the bump, facebook, and pinterest. I'm hoping when MH gets up he'll help me with it before work today, and get out done while I go to a Dr. Appt. Yeah right.

  • DH got a job offer this past week.  If we take it, we will be moving to be closer.  That will take us farther away from friends and family (maybe and additional 35-45 minutes from where we already are).  We have been talking about it and talking about it, and I can see the benefit of either him staying at this current job or moving on, so I am in support of whatever he decides to do.  He is supposed to tell them this morning, and I still don't know if he knows what he is going to say.  It is driving me insane not knOwing what is going on!  I asked him to tell me before he tells them, just so I can feel in the loop and when he calls to tell me how the conversation went that I am not totally surprised.  Sigh...

  • I was going to quote AngLK, because I am in the same boat house-wise, but instead I'll make it one of my confessions.

    1. Being a SAHM is SO much different than people make it out to be. I thought it would be all organizing and baking and cleaning, all while looking beautiful and having the smartest baby ever. Nope. I really only have time to keep the house "picked up", never really clean. It is driving me crazy, but I think it's something I'll have to just deal with, at least until I finish school.

    2. Segue, yesterday C was at my MIL's, because I have a huge presentation due next week, and I took a 3 hour nap instead. Fail.

    3. I heat my bottle water up in the microwave. (Gasp!)

We had a similar situation here last night. V woke up at 11 and didn't go back down until 2:30 and was screaming intermittently. Then she woke up at 5:30 screaming again.

I need to be to work in about 40 min and I am just sitting here drinking my coffee.

Ouch! These kids!! I'm sitting here drinking my coffee too. Here's hoping we both have a good day. Seems unlikely at this point.

Ugh, I hate uncertainty!  You can deal with whichever scenario just fine, but you need to KNOW in order to deal.  Hope your H lets you know soon and that whatever you guys choose works out well for your family!

  • I've been a nasty b!tch to pretty much everyone lately. Between AF and DS sleeping like crap I don't have the energy to be nice anymore. Its not quite 8:30am and I already want something to drink.

Poor kid.  I'm sure she'll forget about it soon, and if not maybe you can do something like get an ant farm so she gets familiar with them and doesn't find them so scary.

Haha! That sounds like a fabulous life! I think that would require a full-staff.

Also, why in the world do you heat up your bottled water?

I was thinking all of this!

And jonnygurl... That's is hilarious what you DD is afraid of! I fear one day I will be the same and my DD will be scarred for life. I am always saying stuff like that!

  • I've got two.

Yesterday I was embarrassed after my whole, "I let my child sleep in the car by herself" post - I wanted to run through the board and yell, "I'm not an idiot!  I'm an intelligent, overly-protective mom... I PROMISE it's not what you think it is!  I'm really ten feet away and keep my eye on her and the garage is cool and the doors are open and she's comfortable and blah blah blah..."  I realized that had someone else posted something like that, I would've given them the side-eye.  Oh well.  I promise I'm not a nut job.

Also, I have to spend my Friday night in a dunking booth for my elementary school.  Joy.

Haha, I should have clarified, there was a post on 6-9 months debating whether it was ok or not to heat up a bottle in the microwave, not bottled water.

I totally got you yesterday, I do that all the time. I know it sounds bad but it really, really isn't. My kitchen is right off my garage and I clean up or cook while C sleeps in the car in the garage. I can see him, it isn't hot yet and if he gets a good nap we are both much happier.

I understood that to be talking about prepping a bottle of formula, but I don't know if that's what she meant or not.

whittier, at least you're in school.  I have time to do more than just "pick up" some days, but I don't have the energy or inclination to really clean most of the time.

I haven't had any energy lately either. I've been a slacker this week.

The awkwardly worded sentence about "bottle water" was indeed about bottles of formula.

  • Saturdays are my only full days with DD, so I usually have lots planned for us to do (go for walks, go to the park, go shopping, etc).

Thanks to DD waking up 4-6 times a night for the past week (minus one night of only waking once), I now plan to stay at home and get her to nap as much as possible... so I can nap as well.  Embarrassed  I feel horrible that I wont do anything exciting with her, but I am struggling to function and am absolutely miserable all day at work because I need toothpicks to keep my eyes open.

I don't know what is going on with her sleep, but I desperately need her to go back to her old sleep habits.  I don't even need her to STTN, just wake once would be more than fine with me.

  • DD's baptism is this weekend, and while I'm so excited to see my out-of-town family, I'm not really looking forward to the craziness that will ensue this weekend.  My sis and her 2 kids, my other sister, and my parents are all staying with us, and it will be INSANE.  I kind of just want to curl up on my couch and watch tv all weekend.

I totally understood you! I do this with both my kids. I will usually wait until one of them wakes then I will leave the other in the car. I will leave the windows open, the car running and I will sit outside with the other kid. Works well for us and I always make sure it's not too cold or hot for the one in the car. Mostly it's just my DD in the car sleeping because my DS very rarely stays asleep once the car stops.

Here's my FFFC for the week.

I hate "competing" with other women in our lives and I don't do it for the most part (occasionally get a twinge of jealousy when someone I know is buying a new house or getting a good job/promotion/raise, but I'm really good at reminding myself of all that's great in my life and being content with that).  My friend who had her baby two days ago is often competing/comparing with her friends.  We all noticed that she was overly (read: fake) excited that I was the first in our group of friends to get engaged, married and pregnant.  I know that it pisses her off that I "beat her" to those milestones, and I kind of enjoy the fact that, no matter what other ways she "wins" as far as she sees it, she'll never escape the fact that I did these things first.

Waking once would be totally acceptable. The past week she has been up 3 times a night and then waking for the day between 5-6. Yesterday it was 4:30am. I better see some new teeth soon!

I keep thinking maybe she is teething, but I don't see or feel anything.  I don't know what else it could be and I don't know what to do about it.

She seems to want to eat every time she wakes (I tried sending DH in there to get her back to sleep so she wouldn't want to eat from me, but she just started screaming even louder).

Maybe it is a growth spurt, but I dont think they are supposed to last more than a couple days and she isn't wanting to eat more during the day, just at night.

Ha! I have a friend like that. When I got engaged to MH very quickly after meeting him and she was waiting around for a ring from her boyfriend of several years her comment to friends was "Lopes always gets what she wants" Why yes biotch, I do.

  • Ok, so I feel really awful posting this but I need to get it out somewhere and might as well do it here.

This pg terrifies me and I don't know if I can do it.  I mean, I WILL do it. But I wonder if I physically can.  I have awful Rheumatoid Arthritis and am in pain all the time.  I'm exhausted beyond anything I've felt before.  And if I even think about managing a 14 month old and a newborn, I freak out.  Throw in a 4 year old and I've hit the crazy train.  I have no idea how I'm going to do it.

Yes, I know that I should have though of all this before getting pg but this was a surprise and let's face it--sometimes surprises happen.

I can't wait to love on another baby.  I love my kids dearly and look forward to having another one to add to the crew.  It's the reality of the ins and outs that scare me.

On top of all of this, my part time job is stressing me out and I'm extremely overwhelmed and can't wait to be done with it.

I'm sure most of this is made worse by hormones but man, I feel like I'm drowning in my own "stuff".  Ok.  I feel a little better.  A big ole glass of wine would help.  Oh well.  LOL

  • I purchased a lovely gift for our cousin's bridal shower tomorrow. (A set of Tiffany's red wine glasses).  My MIL isn't going to the shower (never goes to anything) so she just dropped off $25 bucks to put toward my gift and asked if I could put her name on it.  I'm debating not putting her name on it...an oversight right?

    I've got two.

Joy.

I never read the post.  No side eyes here.

DD's baptism is this weekend, and while I'm so excited to see my out-of-town family, I'm not really looking forward to the craziness that will ensue this weekend.  My sis and her 2 kids, my other sister, and my parents are all staying with us, and it will be INSANE.  I kind of just want to curl up on my couch and watch tv all weekend.

We have the baptism this weekend too.  My insanity started last week, I have this necessity for perfection.  We bought a fixer-upper in November and we have done a lot with it, but obviously it is no where close to be finished.  I have been painting rooms and making curtains, digging up plants and buy pictures to spruce it up before all the relatives come.  Then I have to clean the whole place and  make all the food myself.  I always think I can accomplish more than possible.

My baby is doing the same thing!  As soon as she sees my husband she freaks out and is totally pissed.  She refuses to eat more during the day.  And, the other night she refused to eat before bed, because she wanted to lay upside down over the side of the boppy and watch Glee.  It's so annoying!

  • My throat is killing me, I think it's strep, I tend to get it once a year so I'm pretty familiar with the symptoms.  I don't have a GP here yet and FBIL said he's uncomfortable writing me a prescription for penicillin, so I found a bottle from 2008 in my closet this morning and started taking it.

You can call your OB, I use mine as my GP.

That is so bad!! (go to Target Minute Clinic)  Strep can turn into rheumatic fever if left untreated. (although rare)

    Pot calling kettle black...

I think I broke my toe yesterday.  I dropped a chair on it.  It is all swollen and the nail is cracked. I have no time to waste at the DR. and I'm pretty sure they will just tape it to the next toe.  I'm just going to tape it my self and call it a day.

  • So I totally side eyed the post the other day that someone was freaking out that they might be pregnant again because they were having symptom, but peed on a stick and it was negative. But then I poas yesterday because I have been having what I thought were PMS symptoms all week and still no AF. It was negative. All I could pic in my head was the PIP of the cat saying, "OMG, invisible positive pregnanct test!".

I know, but make sure it is not expired, it loses potency.  I think they give penicillin three years from when it was manufactured.

  • E is a tummy sleeper. She has peed out of her diaper two nights in a row. I changed her diaper and her jammies, but I didn't change her crib sheet until the morning. I just placed a blanket over the damp spot. Embarrassed

We have since moved up a diaper size.

  • I have a few..

    1. I don't know what "pot meet kettle" means.

    2. I caved in and finally bought Sophie for L. I have no idea what the big deal is about her, and still cannot justify spending that much money on a rubber squeaky toy that the dog thinks is for him. DH has come home the past couple days and asked if she likes Sophie.. let's just say I am making L like it if it kills me.

    3. L had a minor blowout yesterday.. (you know.. the ones where just a little drop or two of poop gets on the onesie). I was doing her laundry at the time and didn't feel like running downstairs to put that one in with the rest of her clothes. I took a baby wipe to it and pretended it never happened. Embarrassed

  • Even though I was pretty excited about quiting BFing, I'm going to be sad when we drop our last feeding, which is going to be soon.  I have to say though, we were definitely having some issues.  So even though I was quitting for partly selfish reasons, DD seems to be doing much better on formula then she was after I got AF.  She is now actually STTN, which I thought would never happen especially after our month of waking sometimes every hour.
