April 2012 Moms

Oh my God...I never should have looked.

My undercarriage is ruined.

I made the horrible decision of looking at the damage and now I want to carve out my eyes while going back in time to the moment right before I made that horrible decision.

1. Apparently I have a tear that my midwife neglected to tell me about. I'm not sure I'll ever enjoy sex again. How, in God's name, can a clit tear!?

2. I believe I may be allergic to the pads I was using because it literally looks like I have diaper rash/a bed sore or something of the type.

Someone erase my memory.

Anyone else stupid enough to take a peek?

Re: Oh my God...I never should have looked.

  • I didn't look (too scared!) but I WAS allergic to the d*mn always infinity pads that I started PP with. I had to switch to something else.

Just tell yourself that it didn't happen - you saw nothing. And never look again!!

  • I haven't delivered yet, but I already regret busting out the mirror and looking. I think I tore the hood of my clit while I was washing down there because apparently the skin is like paper now. I have dark skin and blister/rash stuff on my inner thighs and in the crease where my thighs and body come together, from everything getting sweaty and rubbing when I walk. I have a small tear on my perineum from sex last night, so I KNOW this kid is going to rip me a new one. Plus everything is still puffy and swollen from pregzilla hormones. Then there are the apparent stretch marks on my labia, which I didn't even know was a thing that could happen.

If mine looks this bad and I still have an inside baby, you must have been peeking at a nightmare. I'm sorry you had to see that. I'd offer you some brain bleach, but if I find any I am totally using it to unsee my own snatch.

  • lol, yeah, I am not looking until after my postpartum appointment. I haven't even googled "second degree tear," which is what mine are. I'm blissfully ignorant about the state of Frankenvag.
  • I suddenly feel really good about my c-section now (although I was also very scared to look at my incision!) I am sincerely sorry that happened to all of you and hope the recovery goes well.

I actually Googled it right before I looked (which enhanced my curiosty because, as it was merely an illustration, it didn't appear THAT bad...wrong). DH looked over and saw the illustration and said "Is that what you have!?!?! Oh...my god baby, I am SO sorry...so, so sorry."

Don't look it up. Even the illustration is frightening.

And I always wondered if sex would fck up my nether regions in the weeks before labor....not knowing is what had me super gluing my panties on. I'm so sorry you're dealing with that already..

  • I also got a chemical burn from Always pads.

I used Kotex this time around and didn't have any reaction.

  • I looked at week 1 too....wish I wouldn't have. I looked again today and the lady bits are starting to look like lady bits again!! I can't tell you how relieved I am.....
  • 4th degree episiotomy.  I'm never looking again.  Also, FML.  And for the pp who mentioned finding brain bleach, let me know when you do, DH will need a lifetime supply...

  • no. the MW who came to visit me the day I was discharged said.. "you don't wanna look."  I have, briefly, but not totally spread eagle. not enough to see the tears (when he said, while stitching, "not sure how this all goes together - I can't figure out how tab A goes into slot B)

with my brief look, I could have sworn I saw an extra...lip...

  • Third degree tears here...nine pound baby pulled out...or yanked out...with forceps. I looked at less than one week pp and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. My doctor is amazing ..I couldn't even tell where my stitches were...maybe I'm just lucky? fingers crossed that sex will still feel good again someday...and that I won't have anal incontinence like many women with third and fourth degree tears...

    Tongue Tied

I was thinking I should have asked my OB to even out my labia for me while he was down there.lol

  • i have a swamp butt rash from always pads and 90 degree temps. not fun.

i looked at about 1 week pp and i could totally believe that a baby came out of there. it was pretty frightening. my perineum is maybe 1/2 inch long (stitches didn't hold after my oldest ripped me in half) and there were odd bulges of flesh poking out of my vag that i couldn't identify. also frightening.

  • Didn't look last time and I'm not looking this time. I don't want to know and neither does my husband.
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
  • I was dumb enough to look right after labor.. mainly because I was curious as to what this huge freaking bulge was. My clit was so swollen it looked like mangosteen. Thankfully that was the only part I could see in the hospital mirror. I don't even want to look at the stitches that are from my cooter to my butt. The inside stitches felt so AMAZING. :(

  • Ugh, this is why I do NOT want to look...I told one of the nurses in the hospital that I had a morbid curiosity and was thinking about looking and she just said, "No, don't."  I will take her word, thank you.

I hope you feel better soon :/

  • Dont worry ladies. Things will go back to semi normal! lol..I promise.

  • I'm sorry you saw what you saw!  It does heal!

I looked and I was very happy to see that I actually look much better than I did when I was pregnant.  The pressure from the baby made me soooo swollen!  This birth I didn't tear and very surprised within a week my lady bits were almost 100% back to normal.  My butt on the other hand was horribly bad.....

  • I've almost looked on several occasions. I could tell by the amount of stiching the Dr.did and some of his comments that it was carnage down there. I'm glad I didn't give in to curiousity.

  • oh, everything also looks...droopier. longer. echo-esque. I don't know. hanging curtains come to mind. and I only spent 15 minutes pushing! wtf!

  • I'm not looking. Ignorance is bliss. My stiches are still there and things don't feel "normal" yet. That's all I need to know!

  • I didn't look, but I felt around when cleaning up in the shower one day. There were parts I couldn't identify as being mine. Scary.
  • Yea I looked at day 4..NOT a good idea. I keep telling myself it was so horrific cause all I had was a magnified mirror but it was bad. It didn't look like I was stitched evenly at all. Like there were just globs of skin sewn together. Hopefully he knew what he was doing and it was just swelling!

Me too -- I did google but nothing came up.

  • I looked at about one week out and was shocked that it looked pretty normal and I have stitches for a 2nd degree tear and internal stitches for a top non-urethra (thank god!) tear.  I couldn't even tell where my stitches were.  Apparently I need to thank my OB for her good work!!

ETA: Also, add me to the list for the allergic to Always Infinity.  Burned and itched after only an hour.  No problem with the Always Ultra.

  • Oh my goodness!  Bless your heart...  Why in the WORLD would she not tell you that was torn...?  : (

I'll probably poke around with a mirror about a week or so after I deliver...  I have this thing for scarring myself for life.

from what I can see of my inner labia when using the bathroom, they look shorter and daintier (lol).  I hope it's not just an optical illusion due to swelling of the surrounding area!

  • I totally looked! I was way too curious not to. I didn't think it was that bad.
