car seat age ?

What is the rule again about when you have to get a new infant carseat (as in the carseat for your 1st is too old for your 2nd). my daughter is 3 and I just found out i'm pregnant and i'm trying to remember all of the rules on food, carseats, etc. Is it if it's older than 4 years?

    If you bought it new for your 3 year old it's probably still good. There should be an expiration date stamped into it or a date of manufacture.

    Yep, we used our carseat for all 3 girls.  It was 5 years from start to end of the car seat life here.  3 years and the seat should be fine if you bought it new.

    It's imprinted on the plastic on the bottom of the seat. I just checked ours because I am due in October and it expires in December.....totally sucks that I won't be able to use it cause of a couple months but I'd rather be safe then sorry (plus I get a new pattern :) )

    There should be an expiration date on it. If not, I would call the manufacturer and check (date of manufacture will be printed somewhere).

    If it's a graco it expires 12/31 on the 6th year after manufacture. So my snugride was manufactured in 05/2007 and expires 12/31/2013.

    There's an expiration date on them - but I think it's about 5 years.  I'd check the expiration date to be sure.

    All infant seats are 6 years from the date of manufacture, it should either be stamped on the bottom or on a sticker. The only exception is Peg Perego, they're 5.

    Everyone here keeps saying 5/6 years, but I got my Graco Infant seat in 2008 and it expires at the end of this year.  SO please be sure to check the date.

    You may have bought it in 2008 but that doesn't mean when it was manufactured.  I bought my carseat brand new in Jan 2010, it was manufactured 6/1/2009.
