TTC After a Loss

Anybody else...

Have super light or short periods? Am I right in thinking that the amount of flow should not effect my ability to get (or stay) pregnant? Today is CD1 and it looks like this is going to be the third cycle in a row that AF is pretty light. They have all been lighter since my losses, but that isn't a big concern, right?

Re: Anybody else...

  • I'd tell your doctor to be safe. But before my second loss I'd always had medium flow periods that lasted 7 days. After my second loss they lasted only 3 days...one day was heavier than I was used to but the other two days were really light, practically just spotting. My RE asked me a couple questions about it (I can't remember what anymore) and then shrugged his shoulders and said it was no big deal!

Since my ectopic they are longer again but still not 7 days...so I think its completely normal for it to fluctuate after a loss.

^This. I hope you find out what's going on.

  • Mine have always been light and short (except for after my D&C)... None of my Dr thinks its at all related to fertility.  And i know people with similar AFs that have not had a problem at all.  personally, I wouldnt worry about it unless it gets to be less than 3 days.
  • I dont know the answer, but im in the same situation.  I used to have normal heavy periods when I was in my teens, lasting 6 days or so. Once I got on the pill they were really short, and never heavy, lasting 3 days and spotting on the 4th day.  I came off the pill this past november, and my periods are still very short and light. Even when I had my Chemical preg, I only bled for 4 days, heavier the first 2 days, and light the next 2.

  • I'm in the same boat.  I used to have like 4-5 day af and now its maybe 2 days. This started after my d&c a year ago.  I just started seeing an RE and asked if it could be a lining issue and she said no but maybe be an egg quality or quantity issue (can't remember).  I'm currently waiting for that testing so I don't know yet if it is a problem.  I think it is common though and not necessarily a problem.
