We are thinking of getting our niece a pair of emerald earrings for her first birthday. She's had pierced ears for several months. Do we need to get earrings made for babies? And if so, any idea where to buy them?

I am going to be getting my twins ears pierced soon and my mom went to a local jeweler and they have baby earrings. She bought them each a pair of diamond earrings and they have baby safe backs on them.

Oh, thank you! The backs were another thing I was concerned about.

Baby earrings have shorter posts so they don't dig into baby's head. DD has her ears pierced and we bought them from a jewelry store. They do have baby sizes in store, but they also told us they could make and pair into a baby pair simply by clipping the posts and making them shorter.
