Okay dh and I are making fun of eachother b/c we each think the other is doing it wrong--well for patty cake!
Okay I say patty cake patty cake, bakers man, bake me a cake as fast as you can! Roll it (rolling arms), pat it (pat hands down on fake dough)...then I say mark it with a A for abby and me! ---are their any motions for the 'mark it..." part?
How do you do it?
Oh and peek-a-boo. I always say "where's abby?" and when she pulls the blanket down I say "peek-a-boo" or when I come out from hiding behind something I say peek-a-boo.
I've heard MIL and some other random person only say "peek" "peek" when playing...I thought it was weird
How do you play?
Re: Patty cake and peek-a-boo question. How do you play?
Patty Cake Patty Cake Baker's Man Bake me a Cake as fast as you can Roll it (rolling motion) Pat it (Patting motion) Mark it with a "K" (trace the letter) And put it in the oven for Katie and me! (start to tickle her belly)
I play peek-a-boo the same way that you do!
Katie: 1/16/08 2lbs. 15oz.
Abby & Emily: 12/31/10 6lbs. 2oz. & 5lbs. 7oz.
Our patty cake is the same, "Patty cake, patty cake, bakers man, bake me a cake as fast as you can. Roll it (roll hands) pat it (pat hands) and mark it with a B (for baby) or R (for Reagan) and we use our pointer finger to make the letter on the pat hand, and put it in the oven for (either Baby or Reagan) and me"
Same Peek-a-boo too - either "Where's the baby, PEEK A BOO!" or "where's Reagan, PEEK A BOO"
You are RIGHT!!!
Peek a-boo is sort of self explanatory. you hide, then peek out and say boo.
With the patty cake, I used to do "mark it with a G" (for Gus) and make him point to himself. but now for my DD I do "mark it with a B" because "mark it with an L" sounds dumb. then I say, "put it in the oven for daddy, gus, lucy, and me." we all want cake.
I do it the way the above posters said but I also do it like this:
"Stamp it with a 'B'" and press baby's hands down like a stamp
"And throw it in the oven for baby and me" and toss our hands in the air
I like this version for little babies where tracing the letter is a bit lost on them.
Oh doh I do the mark it with an A, then put it in the over for abby and me!
I know how to play peek-a-boo! I was just wondering if anyone played it by just saying peek...I've ran into 2 people who have done just peek and thought it was werid
We say peek-a-boo sometimes and just peek sometimes.
We do a different version of patty cake in our family. We start the same, then do roll it, pick it (instead of pat it) and she pokes her fingers on her palms and then just "Throw it all in the pan!" and throw her hands up. We've always done it that way.
