Boobs getting bigger anyone? Maternity bras?

I'm 12 weeks pregnant now, and my breasts are getting bigger. Anyone else? I asked my husband about it and he definitely notices & likes the change (of course). I'm buying larger bras. I'm gowing bigger, but not necessarily sore. Our breasts will get even bigger after our milk comes in when the baby is born, so I'll probably wait to buy nursing bras. I was wondering if we're suppose to avoid bras with underwire. I hear they might block our milk ducts, especially when breast feeding. My friend had awful mastitis with her infant. Totally want to avoid that.

  • The maternity/nursing bras I bought last time didn't have any underwire - more just for the comfort though!  I bought them from motherhood maternity - I think they were close to $50 bucks each, but they were so comfortable and I basically wore those 2 nursing bras (one black, one nude) for the year that I breastfed.  Definitely invest in some comfortable ones!

  • I'm only 9 weeks and I'm up a cup size. My husband noticed and said "Wow, that's a good return on investment!" I slugged him. :) I've been wearing sports bras as much as possible until I know roughly what size I'll end up at/should buy, but even those are starting to dig in around my collarbone. I'm hoping to make it another week or so between the sports bras and bra-top camisoles, but at this rate that might not work! I've been pulling out my larger underwire bras for work and events, but had not heard anything about needing to avoid them. Better safe than sorry, so I'll look at those, thanks!

Mastitis some times happens when you do every thing right.  Under wire bra's are not recommended because of the blockage.

I agree with PP get good ones it will be worth it in the long run.  I also got nursing tanks which I wore in the hospital after  the birth.  I still prefer them over the regular bra's.

  • I'm having the same problem right now. My solution lululemon sports bras. One bra fits a range of sizes (so I know I can use them after baby is born is weened) and they are shaped to not give you "uniboob". They also don't have an under wire so they fit comfortably. Over all I would call them a non-sexy win!

  • Yes!  And my left boob is like twice the size of my right boob!  Crazy!

I went to a maternity store and got fitted a few weeks ago. She bumped me up a cup size, even though I didn't quite need it all yet, and than found me bras that I was at the small end of just fitting (but boy are they comfy). I also got the extenders for the back. Best $60 spent ever (on two bras).

Oh I also got their cream and it immediately made the burning sensation I had been feeling go away.

  • My boobs are out of control.

I had a pretty decent sized chest to start off with (34DDD)...I didn't buy maternity bras since most seemed geared towards nursing and I didn't know how much bigger they'd get. I ordered one bra in a cup size up..if that doesn't work, I'm going to head to Nordstrom or a specialty store to get fitted.

I'm feeling a bit frumpy and I have a feeling it has to do with wearing a bra that's too small..it's making everything else look not right.

  • I feel you! I have to go to a wedding soon and just tried on my strapless bra today - which I haven't worn in ages - YIKES. It's wayyyy too small. I am dreading spending a lot of money on a new strapless bra that probably won't fit in a few months anyway, but I don't really have a choice.

  • My husband said my boobs are bigger but I don't see or feel the difference. My bras still fit the same. I think when they get bigger, I'll just buy the nursing bras probably. Who knows. I'm not looking forward to buying non VS bras :(

  • I am busting out of my A cup. Hooray! I'm not sure if I'm ready to get new bras because I don't know when they will stop growing. I may go to tj maxx or something in the interim.

Oh man, I feel 'ya! I'm a bridesmaid for an early June wedding, so of course we already ordered the dress... pre-pregnancy. I did order up a size, warning the lady we were trying to have a family, but I'm still nervous. Its a one-shoulder and I'm thinking given the growth, I may end up with an ace bandage vs. the strapless bra to contain these puppies at this point.

  • I always wear an underwire!  My maternity bras had them also.  I EBF for 13 months and never had any problems.  Although I have known people that didn't wear an under wire and did have mastitis so I think it just depends.

  • I just wear sports bras.  As for nursing, I lived in nursing tanks; since I was home with LO I would just wear those all the time.  Super comfortable!

  • Definitely bigger. I decided to just buy a couple of inexpensive bras to tide me over, since they don't seem to have stopped growing. I'd rather be comfortable in the right size now. Plus I'm enjoying what is probably the end of my regular clothes fitting, at least the more tailored ones, so a properly fitted (but inexpensive) underwire bra makes me feel better and more attractive. Plus I think I'm intimidated by the nursing bras -- just seems too soon to me (although that's totally in my head).
  • Ugh good luck! Luckily I'm not in the wedding, just a guest, so if worse comes to worse I can always change dresses last minute.

Good idea!  Since these babies will be born in the winter (I live in Colorado), nursing tanks under sweaters is a great idea!  Thanks for the tip!
