What are you gonna wear...

home from the hospital?  Trying to decide what to put in my bag.. I'm thinking nice PJ's sound like a good idea  (maybe just plaid pants and a nice cotton top) but then again, sometimes I feel really crummy when I wear PJ's because I feel like a slob and I'm trying to think of a way to feel the LEAST amount crummy as possible..

What are you girls doing?

  • I am bringing yoga pants with me...They say you could still look like you are 6 months pregnant when leaving hospital.

  • yoga pants and a comfy maternity shirt. I still looked pregnant when I left the hospital last time.
  • Same for me... Yoga pants. They are the most comfortable.

  • Clean maternity clothes. Maybe jeans and one of my tank tops. Depends on what is clean when I go into labor LOL.

  • I packed my maternity yoga pants, some nursing tanks and maternity tops...I also have a loose fold over skirt (from Old Navy) that I am bringing in case it is hot (I live in California)...I have heard from lots of moms that no matter what bring something comfy and that doesn't squeeze your middle or around your butt and crotch  - you never know where you will be sore after the LO arrives....
  • I also plan on black yoga pants and a comfortable t or long sleeve t-shirt.

  • The most comfy, pretty black maxi dress.  With big ole' black sunglasses.  I can't wait to feel sylish again and get out of the same 10 maternity shirts I've been wearing since week 17 Wink

  • One recommendation -- something loose, including big granny panties -- if you end up needing a c/s, the last thing you're going to want is a waistband that cuts across your incision site.

  • I am bringing a pair of black gauchos and a pair of black capris yoga pants. Both are maternity... I am bringing both because I'm not sure if I'll end up wearing a pair earlier than when I leave. I am just bringing a big tshirt to wear them with - it is not maternity, but it's an XXL so I think it should be baggy enough (It was too big pre-pregnancy and I was wearing XL tshirts). I am also just going to have my sneakers on when I go to the hospital and I'll either wear those home or a pair of flip flops (I brought a pair).

  • I had pajama pants/sweatpants and a plain ON maternity tank or a tshirt for each day I was there, including the day I was admitted and the day I left. I have been wearing pretty much the same type of clothes since being discharged. Comfort is my priority right now.

This.  Yoga pants and probably a nursing top.

  • Gray yoga pants and a blue maternity t-shirt.

  • Pretty much as everyone else, I am going to be wearing black maternity yoga pants or capris (depending on the weather) and a comfy nursing t-shirt/nursing tank and a pair of comfy sandals.  Last time I wore a nursing tank and PJ bottoms and I felt like a complete bum.  I didn't care at the time though!  I have really fallen in love with my maternity yoga pants this time around, so this will be part of my going home outfit.

This exactly. I have an amazing, loose, comfy black maxi dress that I got from Target to wear for coming home, as well as all summer long. I'm always way more comfortable in a dress rather than pants and I think I won't want anything touching my crotch at all the first few days, so I plan to live in maxi dresses.

  • yoga pants or possibly DH's sweatpants and one of his tshirts.

my good friend just had a baby and she said that you won't want anythign tight at all... so the looser the better!

  • I just bought two new dresses this weekend that I plan to take with me to the hospital.  They are maxi-dress "type" of dresses, but knee length because I live in Arizona and expect it to be well over 100 degrees when I come home.  I also have come grey goucho-type pants that I will bring just in case I change my mind.

Where did you find the dresses at?   I've been thinking of at least taking a dress in case I don't feel up to other clothes, but I've already got 3 gaucho type pairs of cotton capris packed for the same reason.  AZ heat means I'm not going to want to wear much more than I have to.  Only thing I need are a couple of nursing tanks and I think I'll be good :)

  • I haven't completely decided.  Either black capri yoga pants or my maternity denim capris.  I'm not sure what shirt yet.  I'll probably wait until a little closer to decide so I know how warm it is going to be.  Honestly, I'm most worried about shoes.  My tennis shoes are pretty much the only ones I can get into right now, and I was so swollen last time after they pumped me full of fluids.  I'm not sure even my tennis shoes will fit.
  • I wore sweat pants, the mesh undies, sports bra and a loose t shirt. i had a c section, so my stomache was swollen, and my boobs were engorged, so i was thankful for the lose clothes. with a vaginal birth you will be swollen, so you wont want anything restricting. No one is going to care what you are wearing, you just had a baby. 2 weeks later and im stil wearing the same types of clothing. im sure non of the nurses or others in the nicu are passing any judgement

  • Comfy sweat/yoga pants and a tshirt.  I'll also bring a long stretchy skirt - if it's the middle of the night when I leave the hospital (I have a midwife so can be discharged soon after birth) I'll just wear the yoga pants, but if it's the middle of the say I'll wear the skirt cause DH will prob take some pictures.

  • Comfort is key for me (I'm not afriad of looking like a slob on planes, either).  I'm bringing yoga pants, a tank top, sweater, and sleep nursing bra.

Great advice - my hospital gives out lovely GIANT mesh panties (and extras to take home).  They are surprisingly comfy (though hideously ugly) and allow you to wear the huge pads they give you comfortably.  I'm sure you ladies know this, but whether you have a c-section or vaginal birth, you're likely to have some bleeding and you can't wear tampons (nor will you want to).

  • I'm wearing balck yoga pants, a coral nursing tank, some really cute BCBG sandals I just got, and a cute/comfy cardigan/cowl thing I just got. I've overplanned. But it's comfy and cute!!!

I read that as loser pair....FAIL on my part, lol

    I'm wearing a maxi dress.

  • Another vote for yoga pants and a T shirt! You will also need some big ol-granny panties for your gigantic pad. HAHA. I lived in yoga pants probably the first month pp. I bled so much that I didn't want to ruin good pants, plus maternity pants don't quite fit right after you deliver and regular pants are still too tight.
  • I am bringing a night shirt,  i think it looks more like a shirt dress though,  and leggings.  Not sure if this is a good idea or not yet...

  • Yoga pants and a tee shirt.
  • A maxi dress. I agree with one of the pp I feel more comfortable in a dress than pants. And if I have stitches it seems like a dress would be better. I love that the weather has been so nice this winter because I was able to pull out and wear maxi dresses and other free flowing dresses early.
  • A maternity shirt and comfy maternity pants that don't have a low waistband because of my c-section.

I would personally wear maternity clothes no matter what because you will still look 5-6 months pregnant.  Also, with a big bulky pad on you won't want really tight pants on or anything.

  • I took a sundress (it was 85 the day I was admitted) and that would have been a good choice had it not been 50, and raining last night when we got released yesterday.  I would recommend yoga pants, nursing cami and a cute t-shirt as another good selection.

  • Yoga pants and a tank. It just felt less slobby to have yoga pants rather than pj's!
  • I am having a csection so I will be going home in a pair of goucho style black pants I got at ON and a maternity shirt. I am also going to get some more black, loose capri style pants this weekend to wear in the hospital. With my last 2 csections, I stayed in the hospital gown and felt yucky the whole time. This time, after the first 24 hrs and a shower, I am going to try and feel a little less frumpy!

Oh, an flip flops as they will be the only shoes I can put on without help due to my incision.

  • Yoga pants and a tshirt, both maternity but neither fits well right now :-(. (due to bump.). I figure post birth both should fit (they fit until about a month ago.)

  • for my birthday my fiance bought me underarmour charged cotton pants and a cute matching tank top. i do believe i am going to wear that, and my maternity undies n nursing bra. the pants are sooo soft and comfy
  • I ended up wearing a long black maxi skirt and one of my maternity tees. I thought it was going to be such a big deal for us when we finally got to leave-- complete with pictures and video but not so much. None of my family came and when my husband picked me up it created this huge traffic jam at the hospital's pick up and drop off area that it was literally a disaster... All in all my outfit didn't even matter...one thing I never thought of though was how difficult and painful it would be to get in and out of the car.. Just a heads up on that one!
  • Lounge capris, nursing tank, juicy Terry zip up hoodie, and flip flops.
