HEre's my menu, so far, but I'm sure I'll change it!
Appetizers: Chips, Salsa, Queso Cheese, Meat and Sausage
Meal: Hamburgers Brats ** And all the fixings - buns, cheese, condiments, etc. Pasta Salad, or Macaroni in the crockpot Green Salad Fruit Salad or Tray Veggie Tray
Dessert: Cucpakes Ice Cream Lollipops (Very Hungry Caterpillar party and I'm incorproating the foods he eats in to the meal!) Maybe Rice Krispy treats as well
Shredded BBQ chicken in the crockpot - I'll bake and shred the chicken ahead of time and put it in the crockpot with BBQ sauce on party day, serve with a good variety of buns/rolls
Some sort of pasta salad - again, can be made the day before
Some sort of green salad - toss together on party day
Fruit salad (or pretty on skewers if I'm extra ambitious)
Maybe a few kinds of chips for good measure
Dessert: Vanilla Bean Cake Pink Cupcakes Various little sweets to look cute on the table and incorporate the pink/aqua/polka dot theme (choc covered marshmallows on skewers, choc covered grahams, choc covered Oreos etc... I haven't quite decided on all that yet)

here is the menu i am thinking of -we are debating the "main" course - calzones or falafel. I am making almost everything except the main course and I figure - mac and cheese is good for adults and babies. We have to go dairy because it is at my mom's house and she keeps kosher - so dairy is easier
For DS1's first birthday I did meatball subs and with a fruit cup and veggie tray.
For DS2 I was thinking I'd make the fruit salsa with cinnamon chips that I made for Easter...my boys loved it, maybe a cookie dough dip, I'm thinkig about going the shish-kabob route this time with chicken and beef kabobs. I will have more adults and older kids then younger kids at his party so I can't get into all the cutsi mini foods like I wanted to. I was going to do sliders but my mom said adults would think it was ridiculous to have to go back and get 4ths to be full.
Of course I'm sure we'll have a veggie tray, jello salad, egg or potato salad and some other typical picnic fair too. I just knew I didn't want to do burgers and hot dogs and his birthday is May 31 as opposed to DS1's Sept 6 so meatball subs wouldn't go over well.
Edit- Desert is his cake and ice cream. My sister is making his cake. I forget what flavor cake and icing I asked her to make...lol.
Ours is just at our house, so we're grilling. The party starts at 3:30, so I'm thinking 3:30-4, I'll have out some appetizers (chips, dips, fruit salad, sweet & sour meatballs in the crockpot, etc...) then we'll start grilling around 4pm. we'll have burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, pasta salad. And obviously cake for dessert

Yeah, this is our timeline as well! I'm hoping it all works out - this is so stressful for me - I've never had the opportunity to plan a big party like this with "real adults". I don't consider parties with mainly our friends a real adult situation!

Yeah, this is our timeline as well! I'm hoping it all works out - this is so stressful for me - I've never had the opportunity to plan a big party like this with "real adults". I don't consider parties with mainly our friends a real adult situation!
My menu is fairly simple. I'll be doing everything myself.
Burgers or chicken salad sandwiches (we are unsure about grilling in the park where we are having the party)
pinwheel veggie sandwiches--for a vegetarian "main" option. I'm thinking tortillas rolled with hummus, cheese, and veggies and then sliced
potato salad (my mom is making it)
fruit salad or fruit skewers
veggies and dip
koala cupcakes!
Probably fruit and veggie tray, cheese tray, and chips/dip to munch on when people arrive.
Grill burgers and hot dogs with beans and potato salad.
Cupcakes and ice cream for dessert.
I've been trying to figure it out. DH keeps telling me to keep it simple because I tend to go overboard...
I'm thinking veggies / dip, chips, cheese and crackers.
Pulled pork, lunch meat and maybe mac and cheese
Pasta salad and green salad
Fruit, birthday cake and ice cream for dessert.
I haven't decided on munchies as guests arrive, but here is the menu:
Coney Dogs-we are grilling dogs and buying the chili from our favorite local Coney Island restaurant
Greek salad-also from the restaurant
Chips
Tortellini salad
Fruit salad
DESSERT BAR!!! Woohoo! I am so excited about this. Cupcakes, rock candy, peach rings, rice krispie treats, macaroons, root beer floats!
We're having a BBQ but are getting it catered so DH doesn't have to stand at the grill all day. We'll have....
Ribs, BBQ Chicken, pulled pork
Salad, beans, corn on the cob, potato salad, corn bread, chips
Birthday cake!
