Stress Test

Hello all, for the past few weeks I have been experiencing pelvic pressure that has been getting worse. It used to only hurt when I got up from sitting or in bed but now it's starting to consistently hurt, like when I walk. Anyways, on Friday I called my doctor just to be sure. I went in and head nurse did an internal exam and everything looked fine, my cervix is closed and the baby is not head down yet, which is ok. She summed it up as everything is stretching and baby is growing. So I went back to work and the doctor's office called me and said that my doctor wants to do a Stress test next week at my routine appointment. The secretary said it's nothing to worry about it and pretty routine. Everything has been pretty normal for me this whole pregnancy, my blood pressure has been great and the baby is moving like crazy. I just didn't know if it was early to have this done. Has anyone else had a Stress test?

Re: Stress Test

  • I started at 29 weeks to monitor placenta issues. So far he has been ideal. It is usually a quick process. I am in and out in a half hour.

  • I have had 2 non stress tests so far.  I have my regular appt tomorrow and my high risk doctor told me that she is going to recommend to him that I have twice weekly non stress tests until I deliver.  She is pretty confident all will be well each time but it's just better to be safe than sorry.  Basically you will just lay down for a half hour or so with two monitors hooked up to you.  Easy peasy.  :)

  • It's an easy test and nothing to worry about.  I started mine last week and my pregnancy has been normal. I actually asked to start mine earlier (the plan was to start them next week) because our LO is super mellow.  Even though I'm not as early as you it's still nothing nothing to worry about.  You should call your doctor to see what their reasons is to start testing though. Once I started them my bi-weekly appt became weekly appts.

  • I've been having them for about a month now... and I find them conforting... just to be hooked up and hear LOs heart beat... I'm supposed to push a button everytime I feel her move... but its so relaxing I know I have a delayed response...
  • I had one last week and will have two a week starting tomorrow until delivery due to my GD diagnosis. They just monitor baby's hb and movements and your contractions, if any. Not a big deal.

  • I start doing these this next week at my regular appointments which my Dr. decided needed to be weekly till I have LO.  From what I hear & PP's have said they just hook you up, monitor LO's heart rate & check for contractions.

  • I have been having NSTs twice a week since week 32. Other than than the inconvenience of having to go to the doctor's office twice a week, it is nice to hear the heart beat and there's comfort in knowing the baby is doing just fine every time I have the test. Doc ordered the NSTs because I have a high amount of fluid and our baby is measuring big.
