Yeast Infection remedy

This is my 2nd yeast infection while pregnant this time around, first time I used a 3day OTC but I would really like to find another option.  Anyone have any go to remedies that they use and it works?

Re: Yeast Infection remedy

  • Oh that's awful.  I used to get reoccuring infections and would make boric acid suppositories that worked like a charm.  I'll go ahead and guess that isn't a safe option to use during pregnancy.  Other than that I've inserted yogurt or garlic and taken probiotic supplements, which kept them at bay.

It may be worth it to visit the doctor.  At one point when I was having reoccuring infections the Dr. told me that there are different types of yeast infections and the OTC treatment only worked for a certain kind, and what I needed he had to prescribe.  Sorry, I can't recall the specifics of the type of infections, medications.  It was at that point that I decided to start taking probiotics and haven't suffered once since.  This was several years ago, too.

I had a very similar experience. I ended up taking a prescription to get rid of it then taking probiotics daily. I got pretty lax on it at the end of my pregnancy. After DS arrived I had a big battle with yeast (on my nipples!). I went back to daily probiotics and things drastically improved.

  • I've was getting them frequently after DD was born until I started taking acidophilus every day. Now, I don't get them anymore. There's also a stronger probiotic you can take. I forget what it's called, but it starts with an S. I'm not sure if it's safe for pregnancy, but you could ask your OB/midwife.
