I had a birth dream last night, and it only took me 3 pushes to get the baby out!
This better be an omen after the 3 hours that I pushed with DS, which was preceded by 28 hours of labor. I hear they say 2nd labors are usually easier, so I'm hoping that's true.
2nd time moms +, have you had any birth dreams about your next labor and delivery experience?
3rd time moms, were your second labors actually easier?
Re: 2nd time moms+: birth dreams and second labors
With ds I only pushed 8 times so if the second one is faster I'm going to start living at the hospital at 36 weeks.
It wasn't a really fast labor though. My water broke then nothing until the induced me. I was in hard active labor for 12 hours. I refused to start pushing until my body was ready. I just knew the baby was still too high and thankfully the doctors listened to me. If I started pushing when they first asked if I was ready I too would have been pushing for hours. I plan on listening to my body again this time around.
w/ DS he took his sweet time My water broke and we got to the hospital at 8 am and nothing happened til 12:30 that afternoon and at 5:43 pm he was born. But w/ DD I started contractions at 9 pm on the 23rd and rode them out til 3:00 am when we got to the hospital a few minutes later I was already at 5 by the time my midwife got there at 5 minutes to 4 I was at 10 and 2 hrs and some odd minutes later she was born.
ETA: No dreams here either
I've already had a birth dream and I'd be thrilled if it happened that way.
DD was a hospital induction, 15hrs of labor, 45min of pushing. Overall not bad time wise but I considered it pretty close to hell thanks to pitocin.
In my dream I was squatting in the tub and DH and DD were sitting outside the tub and I told DH that I needed to get out to go to the bathroom. He asked me if I was sure and I said of course. He told me to check just to be sure and low and behold I felt the babies head. I barely pushed and out "it" came (the sex wasn't mentioned in the dream). I just looked at him in amazement and asked, "Shouldn't we call the midwife?" and that's how the dream ended. I am planning a home birth and would love a water birth so I'd love for my second labor/delivery to go that way. I seemed really calm and peaceful in the dream and that's what I'm hoping for.
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
No birth dreams yet... My labor with my daughter was miserable because I was induced and only mild pain killers - but it was short (6 hours), so I guess I shouldn't complain. I'm really hoping I don't end up with hemis (TMI, sorry) again from the pushing - but I did push really hard to get her out (45 mins).
If it is shorter this time, I would love it! I definitely plan on allowing nature to take its course this time rather than rushing to deliver.
I helped at my friend's fourth baby's delivery (but only 3rd pregnancy - she had twins for 2 &3), and her labor was incredibly quick - and pushing. With no interventions...
