I have been TTC for 10 months.
I've been charting my cycle and my ovulation but I want to start charting my basal temp, too.
I know that which ever one I chose I need to be consistent.
Which method do you all use/which method is better?
Vaginal, Oral or Rectal?
I appreciate the insider scoop because I feel kind of alone right now.

I have definitely never heard of anyone temping rectally. Yikes.
Honestly, even temping vaginally seems like overkill to me.

You could feasibly go vag to ass. Might help it slide in better....just a thought.

In all seriousness, we're ribbing on you because we have not heard the rectal option.
Oral is fine, but a lot of women temp vaginally too.

Only with EWCM. I find it helps the thermometer slide in and out with ease. The good news is that is always okay to go vag to mouth!
Ha ha. It's cool.
As a "newbie" I expect to be made fun of a bit
The only reason I ask is because I always assumed you're supposed to temp vaginally but then the directions that came with the basal thermometer said to use it orally or rectally but it didn't mention vaginal.
I seriously appreciate everyone's feedback
You guys respond quickly!

I temp vaginally b/c I am a mouth breather and my temps were wack until I put the therm. in my vag.
Good Luck!

Definitely rectal
FYI, you weren't charting ovulation if you weren't charting your BBT. The only way to confirm ovulation is through temping. (

Also, just curious if the therm you bought is really a basal and not just a regular digital. I know they temp babies rectally, and I never actually read the instructions on my therm, but "orally or rectally" does make me wonder if you got one that gives the right info. You want a temp that will read 96.34 and not just 96.3.

The thermometer that I have is the Vicks brand and it is specifically labeled for basal temperatures.
It does measure 2 decimal places
