Help me decide graco Sarah or Ikea crib

I am having a really hard time making a decision on cribs. I love the cost of the Ikea cribs but they all seem so low... I know that they are safe to use, but I am concerned about the height thing. The Sarah seems to be an affordable option that is a 'standard' height.

Please give me your advice/reviews / opinions on these options!

Re: Help me decide graco Sarah or Ikea crib

  • We decided against the Ikea crib because of the height.  We went to the store to try it out but it felt awkward to bend that far down to lay the baby down.

  • We have the Gulliver from Ikea, and while it seemed low when we first put it together, with our regular (non-ikea) mattress, it's a very reasonable height. We're also not very tall, so that might have helped to convince us!

  • I think that it depends how tall you are. The reason that we LIKED the Ikea crib was exactly the reason that you dislike it- it IS low, and I am quite short! Reaching over a standard crib to mattress as it's lowest setting is nearly impossible for me. However, my in-laws wanted to buy the baby's crib, and they wanted to buy something that could convert into a full bed... so, honestly, I scoured the internet looking for a crib that was the same height (or close to it) as the Ikea cribs!

  • The whole reason I decided to get the Ikea crib was because it was low - DD will be able to transition to a toddler bed easily without falling too far out of bed, we have been able to reach DD in any corner of the crib.  Gotta love the price.  It was also super-easy to build.  (less than 20 minutes!)

This- we got the Graco Sarah in White and love it!

  • We have an IKEA Gulliver, and we really like it so far. Baby isn't here yet, so we don't have first hand experience, but we like it.

While I am short, MH is tall, and we figured since it was lower, if she did decide to try to jump out, it would be less of a fall.

  • By the time we lowered our IKEA crib, DS was sitting or standing most of the time to get him in and out. It hasn't been an issue. I'm 5'7". I guess if I was short, it would be harder.

I love the quality of the IKEA, though, and ours converts to a toddler bed.

This! But I don't have an IKEA bed, I just think its a better choice.

  • We have the Ikea Gulliver and love it, though baby isn't born yet! I never worried about the height, because nobody that owns one ever states that it is an issue. If I were you, I'd go based on which look you like better. The Sarah is a little more decorative/the Gulliver is extremely simple in design.
