Hi, ladies!
I have been taking bromocriptine for 2 cycles now since my RE diagnosed me with high prolactin levels. Just wondering if anyone else has or is taking this and how did it affect your cycles.
I almost always have a 34 day cycle, and I always menstruate. I didn't temp this cycle, but I noticed that my W and EWCM appeared a lot earlier this cycle. I'm on CD23 now. Just wondering if your cycles shortened due to the medication.
TIA!

Hi! I'm new to this board but just saw your post. My DD (14 months) was a "side effect" of bromocriptine. I was not TTC, but was trying to get regular. After the 1st month, I went immediately to a 28 day cycle after YEARS of irregular 35 day cycles, mostly anovulatory. Within 6 months, unexpected BFP! We are not thinking about TTC this summer, and I am not currently on brom but need to get checked out to see if it is needed again. Starting to chart today!
Lollipops, I have not had an MRI.
and btw, your siggy picture is cracking me up!

How high was your prolactin?

Oh, okay. Mine was more than twice that, but I have a prolactinoma.
Maybe ask your RE about getting an MRI just so that you'd know what you were working with. I'm surprised you didn't already have one, but then your levels aren't that high, and I guess the treatment is the same regardless.
To answer your original question before I got all nosy, I am taking Cabergoline for my prolactinoma. My endocrinologist prefers it over Bromo because it has significantly fewer side effects and can be taken in an insanely low dose. My levels were so high, she wanted me to try three months before coming back in, so I don't know how much it has helped, if at all.
My cycles were WAY out of control while not on meds. It was not unusual for me to go 100+ days without a period. I have only been on the Cab for about two and a half months, but my first cycle on it was 37 days. It was the shortest cycle I've ever had.

So, I'm venturing a guess this is safe for TTC then? Good news. I've been delaying getting my prolactin levels tested (since we didn't start TTC until last month), and after no O being prevalent this cycle I'm finally getting my ass in gear and getting levels checked on Friday.
Long story short- I still have some "milk" production 1.5 years after weaning my daughter. There was some concern that about growth in my ducts, so I was good and had that checked out but slacked on the prolactin levels. Hoping if the levels are elevated that there is an easy fix.
