Is it just us?

Or has anyone else noticed this:

When Smudge goes to bed really well, no fighting it, no fussing, just falls asleep, he has TERRIBLE nights. Like up at least 4 or 5 times (sometimes 8 or 9) as opposed to his usual once.

But when he has a miserable time getting to sleep, he sleeps like a rock and only wakes up once before 6 am.

Is this something other people's babies do? or just mine?

  • There isn't much of a correlation with me - some days she has good nights, some bad. But she ALWAYS fights sleep, unless I nurse her to bed.

  • My O sleeps well, if she fights it or not.

Last night she fought sleep because H got home at 830 and she just had to stay up with him. When I finally got her to sleep she didn't make a peep until 7am . But on Monday night she went right to sleep and stayed asleep until 630am.

  • I have definitely noticed this with Q recently. He fought his nap today for fifteen minutes and now he is out like a sweet adorable little baby light.

  • Last night he almost fell asleep before he was even in his pjs. And then got up 9-ish times. Ugh. And then got up at 6, and wouldn't go back down like he usually does.

  • I have noticed on occasional correlation when DD babbles herself to sleep, she rarely fusses, -- enough that I am trying hard to make sure DD is more awake than drowsy (even though we've sleep trained and she knows how to put herself to sleep) when she goes in the crib.
  • I haven't noticed it at night, but I have for naps.  The longer he fights it, the longer the nap.
