We currently have a large oak dresser and mirror that we are going to leave in our nursery. The two cribs we're looking at only come in cherry and espresso. We really haven't found any finish that matches the dresser. I'm thinking the espresso might compliment the dresser the best, but I'm not sure. WDYT?
Re: Do wood finishes have to match?
I agree with all of this. We have a build in dresser and cabinets in LO's room that are espresso and went with a white(ish) crib and even put a white (same line as crib) changing table topper on the dresser thing, and I love the way it looks

I agree with PP. If they are similar it tends to look tacky. Contrasting looks pretty cool though.
We live in a 1916 home. The floors are light pine and the woodwork is dark cherry. It looks fabulous. I think oak and cherry might be too close. But the espresso would probably compliment nicely.
What crib are you looking at? Just asking as I didn't think there was a dresser for my crib but did some searching & found the parent company of the crib company & was able to go with another baby line. Their classic cherry colors are the same since essentially, they are the same company. The thing that messed us up was not being more specific on the 'cherry' from BRU (they only carry rustic, we needed classic, all the wording was 'cherry') but no biggie as they returned it & we found it someplace else.
Edit: Crib is Graco Charleston & dresser is Europa baby Palisades combo dresser. Both in classic cherry
Graco & Europa are both owned by LaJobi
