My son is an early bird

I am so jealous of anyone whose baby sleeps until 7am! I don't think it will be quite so bad once he is truly STTN (like, 7:30 - 5:30 without waking up) but right now, it's rough, since we're typically up twice at night right now - once just to soothe back to sleep and once to nurse.

I'm adapting by pulling him into bed with me when he wakes up at 5:30 so he can nurse and I can doze until DH gets up for work around 6:15/6:30.

Anyone else learning any other survival skills for dealing with their early birds?

Re: My son is an early bird

  • DD is still adjusting her schedule every few days but her default seems to be- bed around 9pm and up around 4-4:30am to eat, then back down. I get up at 5am and leave for work around 5:30am, so it doesn't really change my schedule at all.

Some days she'll push her first feeding session to 2am, and then I have to wake her up at 5:30 before I leave to eat again...

Please, no joke, share how you manage to get up, ready, and out the door in a half hour! Granted, a great deal of my morning routine, is feeding DS, but before him, I couldn't manage a 30 minute morning routine!

DS2 sleeps in but DS1 is a super early riser.  I hate hearing "Mommy!  I'm up!" at 5:30 am.  I can't rock a 2.5 year old back to sleep ;)

    * DS1...allergic to dairy, peanuts, eggs and turkey *

I've got mine down to 30 minutes too.  I shower at night so the morning is just flat iron my hair, makeup, get dressed, grab my bags and I'm out the door.

Ha, I sadly don't have any secrets except I am lazy and love to sleep so I found a way to streamline. I get up as soon as my alarm goes off, brush my teeth, put in my contacts, hop in the shower (usually 10min?), dry off, get dressed, throw in some mousse/hairspray, and head out the door. Sometimes I'll take the dogs out for a bathroom break, so that can add 5-10 minutes, but when it's just me and not having to feed DD (another 10 minutes), it's 30 minutes from up to out.

It helps that I eat breakfast at work, can wear jeans to work and I don't generally wear makeup.
