Success after IF

First IVF success resulted in m/c... FET success following anyone?

Hello!

After what has felt like an excruciatingly long battle with infertility, my husband and I were ecstatic to learn that we were pregnant following our first round of fresh IVF. Unfortunately, at our first ultrasound just shy of six weeks, we learned that my uterus was empty and we had miscarried. We are lucky enough to have two frozen blasts waiting for us to use in July or August, but I'm needing some success stories to lift my spirits. Anyone have a similar experience, where first IVF was successful but resulted in miscarriage, and then had a successful pregnancy following FET?

Thank you!

Re: First IVF success resulted in m/c... FET success following anyone?

  • I am so sorry for your loss. My first IVF resulted in a m/c. At the time, we had 3 frozen embies, but our RE recommended another fresh cycle (for a variety of reasons). So we did a second fresh IVF. That cycle brought us DS. After our loss my RE told us that if you have a m/c with your first IVF you are more likely to have success with your next cycle than if you don't get pregnant at all with the first cycle. I also have a friend IRL who had a m/c after IVF #1 and is now pregnant with twin girls from her FET the next cycle. I know that it is so hard to keep hoping, but the are lot of ladies who have had success after a loss. Good luck with your FET!

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.

I have done one fresh cycle and 3 FETs...the fresh cycle was a BFN and the 2nd FET was a c/p, but the other 2 cycles resulted in my DD and my twins...so there is definitely hope.

PCOS, lupus anticoagulant, MTHFR (A1298C, one copy) 2 IUIs & 1 IVF = BFN FET#1 = It's a girl! Born 7.1.10 FET#2 = c/p FET#3 = Twin girls! Born on 3.16.12 at 33w2d due to severe pre-E. After 4 weeks in the NICU they are home! Lilypie Third Birthday tickers

  • I'm sorry for your loss. My first fresh IVF was a BFN, my first FET was a c/p, my second fresh IVF was ectopic, and my second FET resulted in my little guy.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.  M/c after IF is just doubly awful. :(

My first IVF was a BFN, but I had a surprise BFP the next cycle (mindf&$k what?)  Then I was m/c almost as soon as I found out.  Good times.

My FET was sticky, though.  Sticky x2, actually! :)

  • Sorry for your loss. This happened to us as well, but we got pg w/twins from our FET, so don't give up! GL!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you for your stories! It's so hard to not get discouraged some days, but your stories give me so much hope. We've got to keep believing it will be our turn soon! Thank you!
