Do you put liquid vitamins in a bottle of BM?

I know the merits of infant vitamins have been debated here -- I'm trying to get better at giving the recommended dose to DD (we don't spend much time in the sun for her vitamin D), but it's such a mess since she always tries to spit it out and then it stains. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried putting the dose into a bottle of BM once a day (I exclusively BF, but pump for work and for DH to feed her from time to time). I just wonder if she'd still taste it, and then start rejecting bottles. Any thoughts?

  • I do, and haven't had any problems with it.

  • We put her Vitamin D supplement in one of her bottles every day. She couldn't tell the difference, it's such a small amount. WAY easier than feeding it to her as a drop.

  • We put 1/2 does of trivisol in each of 2 bottles just to cut down on the chances that he'll reject it. I've never tried a full dose in one bottle so I don't know whether he'd actually care.
  • Did you have to get a script from your pedi for the drops?
  • Nope, they're over-the-counter. We use Polyvisol. Sounds like putting 'em in the bottle is the way to go!

  • I give DS the dose and immediately put him to my breast to help wash out the taste. It works pretty well. (He doesn't get a bottle on a regular basis.)
  • Yes, I have been for a while and she can't seem to tell. I do wonder why they don't make clear unflavored stuff for infants.
