Protruding Uterus??

This is kind of a question for those who have past the 11 week mark.  Probably kind of silly as well.

I'm reading that my uterus should have protruded above the pelvic bone.  I've felt around a bit and I'm not sure if I'm feeling it.  Of course, now I'm worried.  I'm PGAL and I think I've been pretty relaxed so far.  I think coming so close to my first U/S (NT scan), on Tuesday, is making me a bit cray cray and I'm starting to over analyze a bit.

Anyway... do you gals feel your uterus protruding yet?  If so, what does it feel like?  I'm kind of afraid of poking around too hard as well Smile

Re: Protruding Uterus??

  • I'm retroverted, so my uterus doesn't protrude yet... but I can feel where it is.  If I either stand up very straight so I flatten out my torso as much as possible, or lie down, and feel between my belly button and my pubic bone, there is a spot where it goes from soft to firm.  The spot where it becomes firm is the top of the uterus, from what I understand.

    Hope that makes sense!! :)

    Same here.

  • Thanks!!  I can feel a firmer spot, however, I'm not sure if it's deep muscle or my ute!  Guess I'll stop worrying about it though :-)
  • I'm not 11 weeks yet but I definitely remember feeling around for my uterus some days and then freaking out the next because it would suddenly seem gone. It can come and go, one day you'll feel it nice and firm, the next, you won't. Try not to worry too much - or read too much!

Edit: meant to say that was the case with my last pregnancy...

  • I was under the impression (from my doctor) that it was at around 12 weeks that that happened but I'm not entirely sure.
  • I found it helps to do this first thing in the morning in bed. If I'm full, I can't really tell what's food and what's uterus. I can feel the hardening about two or three fingerwidth below my belly button.

  • Don't over-analyze or freak out. :-) Every pregnancy and every woman is different. And quite honestly, some women hit 40 weeks and barely look pregnant....it all depends on their body and how they carry. Besides, it sounds like you're just a few days away from seeing your doctor, and I bet you'll get told that everything is normal. :-)
  • Mine ins't protruded but I did notice yesterday there was a "bump" below my usual roll. So that may be it. It wasn't big just noticed it wasn't flat like normal.

My MIL always asks, is it hard yet, and I have no idea it all feels the same.

  • I am also 11 weeks today. I have a tummy tuck so i can feel my uterus pretty well which is crazy cause i never felt that with my other kids. but I can actually feel it about 4 fingers from the bottom of my belly button. i know that its that cause i am showing right there is poking out already. I have three kids already so my uterus grows faster it seems like then some one with their first pregnancy. But i wouldnt  stress about that so much if you arent feeling it where they say your should cause everyone is different.

  • I am almost 11 weeks and I cannot feel my uterus yet.  I had a dr. appt. earlier in the week and the doctor said my uterus was still really low (she pointed to the spot and it was right near my pelvic bone).  So, I guess she could feel it there, but I can't.
