My week recap - due date and IVF related

Hi ladies! I'm at home unexpectedly because I had to leave work. Some moron at my school thought it would be a good idea to have "twin day" today so I had to navigate through the hallways listening to "look at all of the twins!" etc. Ugh. We've never had twin day before so I have no idea why we have to start this year. I went directly to my classroom, started shaking and crying and had to leave. So my spring break has officially begun, yay.

Monday (4/9) was my due date. I made it through with a very heavy heart. I took the day off and decided to go for a walk and had an appointment with my R.E. I left her office kind of overwhelmed so in hindsight I don't think that was a good idea to meet with her on such an emotional day. I also went out to dinner with my DH so that was nice. We didn't do anything formal for the babies but they were certainly on my mind all day, as they are every day.

So the good news is that I made an IVF plan with the R.E. I'm starting birth control pills today, and am scheduled for the egg retrieval and egg transfer in the middle of May. I can't believe it's happening so fast! The difficult decision was whether to transfer 1 or 2. We (my DH and I, RE, and high risk Dr.) decided the best plan for me is to transfer 2 and get the transabdominal cerclage (TAC) when/if(?) I'm 11 weeks pregnant. My high risk Dr. said "there is no question that the TAC is the best possible repair for your cervix." I'm very nervous about everything but also hopeful and excited.

I'm so sorry they sprung that twin day on you, but I'm glad you decided to take care of yourself and leave. I'm also so glad you have a plan with your RE, I really hope it all goes smoothly and you can be carrying your take home baby (or babies) very soon!

Thumbs down for twin day That must've sucked. I'm glad you got to leave though.

Happy to see that you are moving forward w/ a TTC plan. No, it doesn't ease the pain but it does give you something positive to focus on. Big hugs! Please keep us posted.

I am sorry about twin day. That would be really hard for me too.

GL with you upcoming cycle. I am getting ready to do another transfer and this time we are doing two and the only reason I am even slightly willing to consider it is because of my TAC.

Sorry to hear you are having another rough day at least you've passed that milestone (FYI I sent you a quick PM the other day). Teaching sucks while trying to deal with stuff and then They go and throw twin day at you! Not fair. It's hard to get through and it's almost impossible to find support. Even my husband doesn't understand why I'm upset today. He seems to think if he says cheer up, i should automatically be able to feel better.

I hope you have a better weekend! At least it's Friday!

Thanks so much to all of you. I really hope this works so I can get the surgery over the summer when I'm off from work. Sorry for all of the recent venting...I will try to post the positive things too. I think I've learned the pattern from you ladies. Things should be looking up from now until month 6, right? Big Smile

I'm working late so I will reply to the pm when I get home since I can't reply to them from my phone for some reason. I took a step back from the boards since I'm at the point of thinking it most likely isn't going to happen for us since we aren't going to cycle again. Two years out wasn't as tough as the previous year, my bday was tougher because they would've most likely been here for my 30th bday, which was 4/3/10. I also have another edd the end of march and my ectopic was April also so it's a tough time of year.
