Thanks ladies for your input. We went to see another daycare yesterday and it was just OK and I think we've waited too long to get into places we like. DH and I compromised and will get a nanny. Graeme's current daycare agreed to keep him for just one day (with an option of a 2nd if the lumber market turns around and DH's commissions increase) and we're signing him up for "soccer" and gymnastics to keep him active two other days. I figure between that and our zoo and children's museum memberships, and playdates with the neighbors, he should survive until entering preschool the following year...right?

Re: s/o childcare, thank you
I hope you feel better now that you at least have a plan! Do you have a Nanny lined up?
My son had to spend time with kids younger than him from 13 months on. That's when Penny was born and my friends started having babies. When he was 2 I started watching my niece so he started spending everyday with one year olds. I put him in preschool this year to help him socialize with kids his own age and he loves it.
I think your son will be fine. It sounds like you have a great plan.
Good luck!!
Nope I was told to post 2-3 months out so we've gotta get on that once the babies arrive...should be nice and hectic.

Glad you have a plan! I think DS will be just fine with all the activities you have lined up.
We moved to a new town and had a heck of a time finding a day care with room for both boys, and it was too late in the year to get them into pre school. Now DH's cousin watches them for us. She has a 3 year old and a 9 month old. I was a little worried they would miss having a bunch of kids around, but they have been doing great. And they head to the library, museum, playgrounds, etc every day. Next year they will go to pre school a couple of half days a week (Brady will go Mon, Wed, and Fri mornings and Nolan will go Tues, Thurs). So like your situation, it was only temporary and as I mentioned the boys love it and they are doing great. It could turn out to be a great thing!! Good luck,
This just made me feel so much better. I was in tears earlier coming to the decision to pull him from full time daycare.
