Question about Contractions...

I am 34w (tomorrow) and I have been having BH inconsistently for the last two months.  Well, for the last 24 hours or so I have been having consistent contractions that feel like uncomfortable period cramps.  The baby's movement today has been less kick-y and more roll-y / stretch-y and it seems like the pain gets worse when he moves.

Does the movement from the baby cause or worsen contractions??

I feel like it's a silly question - especially since this is my third baby, but I never had any contractions with my first two.

I am also scheduled for a repeat c-section on 5/22, and I'm concerned about going into labor beforehand (which also never happened before)... I was induced with my first and only felt pitocin contractions in my back (which this is NOT) and I ended up having a c-section after 18 hours and no progression.  I was scheduled for c-section with my second...no problems, no contractions.

This feels brand-new to me...

Any advice / info on what spontaneous / natural labor is like?  Is this normal?

 TIA!

Re: Question about Contractions...

  • I had my appt on Tuesday and I told her that this past weekend I had some major cramping down really low and have been feeling mild cramping or period like cramping through out the week.  She said it sounds like the baby is starting to drop, but if they become more prominent and are timeable to call L&D.  I have noticed it gets very strong when I have to pee and once I am done I have some relief.  I asked a girl I work with who just had a baby if she felt this in her last month and she said she did and it was uncomfortable.  But if you are worried please call your on call line or L&D for peace of mind.  Usually if I drink a bunch of water and put my feet up I feel better.

  • I cannot be certain that I am giving you the right information as I have never felt what real (non pitocin) contractions are like. I did not have any or any that I could feel with my DD. However I was talking with my mom yesterday about how I could not determine if I was having contractions or not because the baby was also moving at the same time. I said when I felt what seemed to be a contraction it felt like I was getting the breath squeezed out of me. I needed to breath through it and it lasts about 30 seconds before it ended. My belly also got hard. She told me it sounded like contractions.

I had to go to the Dr. yesterday due to what I thought was bloody show but ended up being who knows what. I told him about this and he said it was most likely contractions.

So it could quiet possibly be contractions. If your worried go and get it checked out.
