UO Thursday

Re: UO Thursday

  • I don't see what is wrong with rocking your baby to sleep every night. This may be my AP-lite point of view talking.

  • I get super-annoyed at questions on the boards like "can I take my baby out in public in his pjs?" or "my baby put a dog hair in his mouth, should I call the Dr?" come on people, seriously?
    Married 08.06

  • Sometimes I wish I had given up on BF.  As much as I enjoy the money savings and health benefits, right now I hate feeling like I'm strapped to the baby.  Now that we're over 2 months in and things are going so well, it'd be completely my choice if I switched to formula.  I don't need to because I don't have a job, so for me it almost feels like the cowards way out (I'm not putting down those who FF, it's just how I feel about my current situation).

  • I can not stand people who think that just because they have already had children they think they know it all if I hear one more time "well I did have 2 children already, I know what I am talking about" I will go nuts!! Just because you are already a parent does NOT mean you know EVERYTHING or most importantly what is best for my child!!!!!!

  • If you have a blog, then keep up with it d*mn it. It drives me crazy when people start blogs, I get hooked and look forward to reading them, and then they slowly stop posting after the novelty wears off.
  • I agree with LibraryChica, everytime I get an event invite on Facebook its to a Pampered Chef party or something similar.  And now my husband's friend is selling Advocare and is coming over soon.

I agree with this one.  I totally understand that this board is for concerns and questions regarding our LO's, but sometimes you have to make a decision on your own and trust it.  I am a FTM and I have my worries, but I am not concerned about changing my baby's clothes before we go out.  I feel bad for these mom's because worrying so much has probably made it hard for them to just enjoy having their new baby around.

  • I only work 1-3 days a week and yesterday I COULD NOT WAIT to get out of the house and go to work. there is something to be said about adult human interaction.

  • As much as I love staying home with DD and am thankful that I can, there are days when I wish I didn't decide to stop teaching. Having conversations with other adults is something I no longer take for granted.

I think, for people on state paid insurance, it should be a fineable.. if not lock up worthy offence for a u/s tech to look or find the sex on a baby after the routine u/s. That means if youre faking an emergency with your baby to find out the sex- I dont have to pay for it.. Ill already be paying for your food stamps and state insurance.. Im not going to pay extra for you to find out the sex of a child you cant afford or take care of anyway... (disclaimer: this says nothing against the people who are on tight budgets or had a woops and cant afford.. this is about those who work the system...)* sits and waits for flame*

I agree.  Faking an emergency just to find out the gender is wrong even on regular insurance.  Besides, you shouldn't have to fake an emergency for an ultrasound.  I was on medicaid during my pregnancy, and they were able to tell me the gender during the anatomy ultrasound.  Even if my regular insurance covered maternity (it did not, hence the medicaid), it's still wrong to fraud the medical system for an extra ultrasound if the routine u/s didn't get the gender.

Agreed, even though my contact was with criminals. I enjoyed researching laws and putting my mind to the test. I don't feel like I get to challenge myself mentally anymore.

  • I totally agree with you.  I go back to teaching in a week and can't wait for the adult interaction.  Even though my class is horrible this year I am so ready to get back in that classroom.
  • I'm so tired of politics. It took everything within me not to scream last night when DH wanted to discuss something. I guess I should add that I'm a libertarian, that is pretty darn unpopular! Lol.

im going to double up today. Girls have vaginas, libia's or cervix's.. men have a penis and testicals... stop calling my sons penis a ding dong.. hostess does not make it and its not chocolate coverd.. and i think giving these parts nicknames makes it sound like we should be ashamed of our sex/reproductive organs.I have a vagina.... vaaaaaaaggggggiiiiinnnnaaaaaaa... grow up -_-

LOL, I so agree with this, but my DH does not for some reason.  He says saying "penis" is weird and that he has and always will call it a weiner.  He is so immature lol.

I'm right there with ya on both points!  Nice to see there's other Libertarians out there.

I think "sleep when the baby sleeps" is the biggest bunch of BS advice there is.  If I would have followed that advice I would have never showered or ate.

  • I can't stand that we offer apologies to people for our opinion.  Like people who say "I don't mean to bash FFers" or "I don't mean to offend" or "X is good for me and Y is not. But it is okay that you like Y and not X."

DH and I were talking about libertarianism and how it seems to be a fad. ://

I'll see your libertarianism and raise you my anarcho-capitalism. Though, DH says it is me being contrarian.

Its not really a fad, it's the same principles our nation was founded on, so it's actually quite old.

I absolutely agree with you that libertarianism is based on the same principles our nation was founded on.  But it seems that in the last 10 years, the major parties have been losing voters while the Libertarian party has continued to grow (some estimates say by at least 8% since 2008).

This may be in part due to Ron Paul and his presence on college campuses.  And, it seems that a lot of conservative people in Hollywood have had to hide behind the guise of being a libertarian to prevent them from being ostracized.  As a result, there is more focus in the media on libertarians, which therefore helps spread the gospel of small government and making it more likely that people who would never have heard of the philosophy will decide to align themselves with it. Hence some of the reasons I think it is a fad.

Oh, and let's not forget the marijuana thing.  I think a lot of people are libertarians because they want to smoke pot, one reason why college campuses are a hotbed of libertarian activity.  Let them grow up, get a job, and have kids and see where that leads them.
