2nd Trimester

if you use a house keeper?

we finally decided to break down and hire someone for once a month to help us stay on top of the DEEP cleaning.  We live in a townhouse with about 1200sf of living space (so less actually needs to be cleaned).  What would you expect $100 to get you in hours and service?

  • Just one housekeeper??  If they aren't from a service, like 5-6 hours.... if they are from a service probably like 3...

Molly maid around here charges $75 and hour for 2 people.... I wouldn't recommend them though, they don't do a very good job.

  • I'm so jealous.....

But I would expect at least a couple hours from them.

yes -- just one.  I was not too pleased with what we got for our money.  I don't think she put in even one and a half hours here.

  • My girl is awesome and my house is about 1700 sq feet and she charges me $60.  She and her mom clean and it takes about 2 hours.  It is a life saver and give me more time with my baby.

  • I would definitely try to find someone private if you can.  I have had nothing but problems with cleaning services from not being consistent, to breaking things, to leaving the door unlocked and not setting the alarm!
  • I have someone come in and do 2 to 3 hours twice a month. She owns her own company, and she charges $20 per hour.

  • It depends on where you live.  My sister in DC pays $80 for 3 hrs every other week.  I got some quotes in OK and they wanted $150 for 3 hrs every other week.  I finally found someone that will do it for $75.  I just laid out my expectations...floors, baseboards, blinds dusted, kitchen and bathrooms cleaned, furniture dusted, carpets vacuumed.  My house is generally neat, but I just need help with the cleaning since I'm still working full time.
  • My mother pays her housekeeper $100/week to clean their house...it's roughly 2800 sq ft.  I think Beth does the basics, not too much deep cleaning, & it takes about 4-5 hours to clean it.
  • We have a small apt- about 1,000 sq. ft. & our housekeeper comes in every other week. She's paid 20$ an hour and can usually do the job in an hour to an hour & a half each time... dusting/ vacuuming/ cleaning the bathroom (including toilet/ tiles/ etc)/ the chandelier/ all windows/ the crown molding/ the fans. I consider this a pretty good price (we're in the Philly suburbs)!
