They'll be those kids who are dorks, but are the cool dorks who hang out with the jocks and cheerleaders. Just you wait and see.

Not Screech, right?  I would be very upset if either of your children become a Screech.

I would be very upset as well. Screech came to my school a few years ago. His standup was terrible, and he was an ***.

  • I wish I'd made spouse wear a helmet.
  • Who would you do:  Screech or Carrot Top?

    I'd probably do Screech.

  • CARROT TOP.

  • My DH said Dustin Diamond (Screech) came to his small hometown to do a stand-up comedy show (?) back during the 1990s. He was at the Holiday Inn. He was acting like a spoiled, arrogant, entitled, self-righteous egomaniac A-lister. And the show sucked too.

This is more of a confession, but whatever. On Easter, we attended a church that I fell in love with. We had a blast, the kids had a blast, and I talked about it all the way to my uncle's Easter dinner about how excited I am to start going there. This was after 3 long years of searching for a church that we love. Last night, DH told me that he saw his ex-gf there but didn't want to say anything. This was a girl that he had a long fling with and he told me that it was more of a sexual thing than anything.

I am pissed. I'm a somewhat jealous person, so knowing that an ex-gf of his is there is enough to put a damper on the whole thing. I have been internally seething at DH about ruining our church experience because of his stupid ex-gf, even though I know it's my shiit to get over.

I am with you on this. I don't care if it seems immature. I don't think I would be comfortable going. My mind wouldn't be on church but on her.

I'm just so pissed because 3 YEARS. I'll probably just suck it up and go anyway.

Hopefully, she was only there because it was Easter and you only have to deal with possibly running into her on Christmas and Easter going forward.

  • My kids will be wearing helmets on bikes, rollerblading, etc.  We wear helmets on bikes as well.  DH did biking races and competitions in HS so wearing a helmet is normal to him.  I live a major cycling city so they have bike lanes almost everywhere.  95% of people wear helmets.  Those that don't look like, and are, idiots.  This is kind of like ERF to me.  I'll do whatever I can to hopefully prevent a serious head injury to my child.

Yeah, but you may still go out in public and then anyone seeing you would go blind instantly - from your natural beauty and from the fug shoes.

Here's my side-eyeable contribution for the day:

I know it's the law, safer, yadda, yadda, yadda, but I really hate knowing that I will have to put a helmet on Spencer when he rides bikes. I had a flag on my bike when I was a kid and it always made me feel like the biggest dork on the planet. I was so embarrassed by it. If my parents had made me wear a helmet too, I probably would have packed my kiddie bags and hit the kiddie road.

I would rather have my kid look like a dork on a bike than have her end up in the hospital with a serious head injury.

No joke.  When I was 10 my bike hit a rock and I went over the handle bars.  I badly fractured my wrist and my helmet was split in two.  If I hadn't been wearing it, that would have been my skull.

The flameful part is that I still feel like a dork wearing a helmet, but I really like my skull intact.  I'm hoping that all of the kids will just be used to wearing helmets so it won't be a big deal for ours.

That's what I am thinking.  The helmet law only came into place when I was 12.  There was no way I was going to look like a geek and wear a helmet.  If my parents would've made me wear one from day one, it wouldn't have been geeky.  Plus, the helmets nowadays are much nicer than the mushroom head helmet I had to wear.  DS looks adorable in his.

Today, I am feeling like the of/have nazi. It drives me insane when people, especially management, cannot tell the difference between "of" and the contraction for "have" tacked on to a "would" "should" etc.

Lol at "mushroom head helmet". Yes, that is where my mind went.

My UO: I dont have one. All my opinions are popular and I dont have it in me to do another "human beings are the plague blah blah blah" post.

Late, but - I like the idea of a gender reveal party & would totally go to one for a close friend/family member, it sounds kinda fun to me.

I would go to one but never planned on doing one myself. DH is all into it and wants to do one with this baby. So I guess I have to plan a freaking gender party now. Like I need one extra thing on my plate.

Yeah, I get why people think they're gratuitous & stuff, I really do.  But, I think it would be a fun thing to do w/close friends & family, especially for a second pregnancy if you're not doing a shower/sprinkle/sip & see or what-have-you.  I'm on the fence as to whether I would do one myself - guess I'll decide when the time comes :).

I think I am more upset that I will have to wait that much longer to know the gender. Our appts are usually scheduled on a Tuesday. So then the envelope of mystery would go to the person baking the cake or whatever and then I would have to wait till Friday or Saturday to have everyone over and find out. I am a really impatient person so that sounds like torture to me.

Sorry, my brain is in interview/don't puke mode.  Thank you for correcting my grammar.

It's not even you or your post. I go through customer service case documentation for QC and OMFG, there are district managers who do.not.know the difference. And another OMFG, its subpoena, not supina, and thats from a cc to our legal dept. Really dumbassses? You are in charge of 20+ stores and you can't spell at the middle/highschool level or use contractions?

My UO - I feel bad for George Zimmerman's family - NOT for him, but for his family.  They presumably didn't do anything wrong but will have to suffer because of his stupidity for a long time.  I think that sucks.

I obviously feel way worse for Trayvon Martin's family, since they lost a child in a violent and senseless manner, but I still feel for Zimmerman's family.

I don't.  They raised Zimmerman, and they are most likely a big reason as to why he is a racist.  Racist people usually grow up in racist households.

My kid loves wearing his helmet and when the neighborhood kids come to our driveway to skate or jump their bikes we make them wear a helmet. It is known and everyone just does it.

As soon as we get outside, I ask DS where is your helmet and he puts his hand on his head and starts looking for it in the garage.  He gets a huge smile when he finds it.

I will make my girls wear helmets as well.  DD#1 is SUPER fair skinned and I am sure #2 will be as well.  They will totally be those kids at the pool with the long sleeved UV shirts on.   Well, until they figure out that they can just bring a bag and stuff their helmets and UV shirts in it somewhere between the house and the pool.

Helmets are cool. DH skateboards and you have to wear a helmet at all the parks, even the adults.
