If it's a boy, we're going with Marvin. It's not really uncommon, but rather "old". But, he'll be Marvin the 4th. We plan to call him Vin. Our last name is Weido (pronounced weed-o)
We've gone through the gammet on boy's names now...those we've considered for the past 2 pregnancies were Eammon, Garrison, Errol, Blake, Gareth, Gannon, Nolan, Murphy & Harrison. For this pregnancy our top contenders are Everette & Grant. I also really like the name Thaddeus (Thad) & Simon. I tend to like Old Fashioned uncommon names...Hopefully we'll find one this time we both love...which hasn't happened yet.
AKA Carol*Brady! IHO my upcoming 10yr Nestiversary--Back to old screenname. My own Marsha, Jan & Cindy...
Designing a Life Blog
i work at a preschool and we def. hear some unique names in my class last year there was a lil boy named Iyun pronounced (Ian) this year i have Izzack pronounced (Issac) and twin girls Enley and Iley
My DH and I are into astrology and constellations. We are considering the name Orion if we have a boy. I also thought it would be neat to show him the constellation in the sky when he gets older and let him know where his name came from! I'm just afraid people will start calling him "Ryan" (which I don't want) and think his name is spelled O'Ryan... I'm curious what others think and welcome feedback! Thanks, ladies!

I love this idea!! i think it's great! i wish my dh and I were really into something aside from sports. I don't want to name our kids after an athlete. very creative! what are you going to do for a girl?

I LOVE THIS IDEA!! very creative! my dh and I aren't into astrology, so this wouldn't make sense for us-but how cute! what are you going to do if you have a little girl?
Those are definitely unique. I also work at a preschool and have seen some different ones too, but my favorite were brothers named J and Ohn. Yes, the older brother's name is just the letter J and their fathers name was.... JOHN.
Heather.Billy - I love that idea. I wanted to name my kid Sirius so bad (brightest star, aka Harry Potter character) and my DH just flat said "absolutely, positively, over my dead body, NO."
I'm a sucker for Maximus and Thaddeus. But right now DH and I are only agreeing on common names... hmph

strange!
DH and I both like the name Cyrus, but we are naming this one Preston if it's a boy.
Mom to 2 beautiful girls, 3 yrs and 22 months old. My 2nd was born at 32 weeks due to Rhogam failure/severe complications from Rh disease and is our miracle. She has bilateral auditory neuropathy and a cochlear implant, activated 4/5/2012 at 19 months.
Not sure about the girl's name yet. The female greek or astrological names aren't jumping out at us as much, some are just plain weird and I wouldn't want to put my child through that ;>) We may have to take a different angle if we are having a girl...we are hoping for a boy, though, but won't know for sure for another month or so!

A boy at my school's name is Orion and although not my personal taste, the kids aren't confused at all, and everyone calls him Orion. I think if you like it you should go for it. Many people have to correct name spellings all the time. GL!
My last name also starts with a W. It's something like Wa****s....lol. Anyways, my boy name is Carter and I love the way it sounds with my last name. I also wanted a unique name and neither my DH or I know anyone with that name. Good luck, I know finding names that both you guys like is hard.
My cousin named her son Orion. I didn't like it at first, but that's his name..now he looks like an Orion... if that makes any sense. I know some people have pronounced it 'or e un' and others mistake it for Ryan, but that could happen with any name.
Re: Share your UNCOMMON boys names
I dont think it is that common but would sound good with your last name Walter
I'm lobbying DH to let me use Linus, if we have a boy.
I'm a big Peanuts fan
Right now we set on Oliver, I'm not sure if that's common or uncommon. We also liked Copper, Miles, Wyatt, Noah, Jacob, Nathaniel.

Harper is a girl's name. FYI.
Uncommon boy names should stay uncommon. They're never a good idea.
So, everyone should just name their kids based off of the top ten list from social security?
?
it can be both, i checked.?
?
i actually just read the rest of your post. ?is there anything else we should learn from you? ?perhaps how to wipe our asses the correct way
I absolutely love this name!
Our boy name isn't uncommon. it's like the 2nd male name ever mentioned in the Bible, so it's quite old.
We're going with Fletcher if it's a boy. I like the strong last names as first names anyway.
If we have a boy, our frontrunner name is Talan. Not sure if that's uncommon or not.
Also like: Clayton, Nolan, or Sutton.
My boy name picks:
Ezekiel
Eamon
Gideon
Finn
?
I dont think any of those are common?

I am a teacher and taught a male Harper last year. It can go both ways.

Our boy name is Patterson. Yeah, it's MIL's maiden name, but we like it as a first name, too.
Other names that I like but don't hear often anymore:
Nathaniel
Jared
Clayton
(BTW, these are my brother's names.
