Pregnant after IF

Never been so scared

DH and I were supposed to fly home to NC from San Francisco tomorrow but it looks like that will be delayed. I started gushing bright red blood this afternoon. Thank God we decided to stay in town today instead of going all the way out to Yosemite like we initially planed. We rushed to the ER which was luckily only 3 minutes away. They did an u/s and both babies looked great, measuring 2 and 3 days ahead and were moving around, thank God. While she was doing the scan I had unbearable pain in my left kidney...so bad it made me throw up and I soaked another sheet in blood....There was so much blood. I was hysterical. They did an u/s of my kidneys too and couldn't find anything. They found a 5 cm SCH in my uterus which is causing the bleeding and apparently there's a small fibroid too. I'm back in our hotel room now but need to go back in tomorrow morning for another u/s with the doctor. Please keep my little ones in your T&Ps if you can spare them. The bleeding seems to have slowed a bit...I'm hoping and praying it stops soon.

  • You're in my thoughts and prayers.  What an awful, terrifying day, but I am so glad the LOs looked fine on the u/s.  (((HUGE HUGS)))

Severe MFI. Me: supposedly all clear but eggs showed vacuoles.

IVF #1 January 2012, ER Jan 14th: 34R, 27M, 23F. Day 3: 18 embies still strong. Day 5: zero "good," one "fair," the rest "poor." Transferred 3. None made it to blast or to freeze. Jan 28: BFN.

Lucky IVF #2: Transferred two beautiful day three embies on St. Patrick's Day. BFP on HPT 7dp3dt. Beta 1 (14dpER)=106; Beta 2 (16dpER)=140; Beta 3 (19dpER)=264! First u/s 4.17.

  • Sorry you had such a scary day.  I don't know if you follow the multiples board, but many twin moms experience a big bleed in the first trimester.  Mine was at 11 weeks and I went to the ER bleeding heavily but the babies were fine.  I then spotted for another month.  I'm now 28 weeks and never had any bleeding once the SCH resolved at 15 weeks.  Good luck with your recheck!

I'm not sure about the size. It was definitely noticeable on the u/s. They were saying they don't know how it could've just formed since my last u/s last Monday. My RE never saw it though..he said he saw no issues...who knows. Thanks for all the T&Ps ladies. I appreciate it so much

  • Oh those darn sch's! They cause so many scary, scary situations. Mine was at 6w4d, just as big as your's (though mine finished resorbing without additional bleeding). I had gone in at 6w1d (a Friday) for the hb ultrasound, when nothing was there, had my bleeding on a Monday, and on Tuesday the u/s showed us the hematoma, just as large as the area where the baby was (i.e. way bigger than the baby). It's been totally gone on ultrasound since about 16w, but when I had an MRI at the same time (another long story) they picked up just a teeny amount of it. It seems like SCHs are very common in IVF pregnancies...
