Babies: 3 - 6 Months

what gift to give for a baby "sprinkle"

I'm going to one tomorrow, and this will be the first time I'm going to a sprinkle.

The mom has a 1 year old girl and is now expecting her first little boy. The host suggested diapers, so I was going to get some of those, but I was wondering if I should top off the gift with an outfit or maybe a sleep sack. The mom is not registered anywhere for anything and I don't know anything at all about her plans - EBF, FF nothin.

  • I would buy a little sleeper or outfit. It couldn't hurt knowing that she is having a boy this go round.

  • Usually you give just the basics: diapers, bath wash, lotion, clothes, etc...

  • I've never been to a "sprinkle," but would think since she already has a girl she might appreciate some cute little boyish things, like an outfit or toy (I realize we shouldn't categorize toys as "boy" or "girl," gender-stereotype bla bla but you know what I mean) - maybe just something little to go along with the basics like pp said, diapers, etc.

  • We had a sprinkle for my cousin who was expecting a boy after having a girl. Most brought boy specific clothes, since she didn't have any and she could reuse her other items like toys, stroller, high chair.
  • I always consider a sprinkle to be fair game for cute clothes, unless the older child is significantly older.

This. You can always include the gift receipt and they can return if they get duplicates

  • If the host suggested diapers, I'd bring that.  It might also be good to bring a little boy outfit or toy, but I would recommend getting something the baby can use when he's a little bit older, like 6-9 months.  I got so many newborn outfits and sleepers that I couldn't put DD in all of them, and now I don't have much for her now that she's growing out of 6 month clothes.
