s/o pumping... (tip)

This weekend I was reminded of my favorite pumping trick:  pumping in the car.

We took DS to a baseball game yesterday and left baby girl with grandma.  Because she hadn't fed since 8:30 and we left at 11:30, I knew I had to pump because she would want to eat shortly after we got there.

Anyway, hands free bra + cover + car adapter for my PISA = 20 minutes of pumping time while on the way there.  Bottle was ready when we pulled in.

With DS, I used to sit in the back seat, pump and bottle feed while heading to grandma's...  With a 2nd carseat, I can't do that this time, but she is much calmer than DS ever was.

I will also admit to pumping while driving as a part of my daily routine with DS...  I hooked up everything before I left, but it also works quite well so I can maintain my lifestyle without taking extra time...

I havent had to use the battery pack on mine yet, but it's ready to go if and when I do ... DH is really cool about pulling over and letting me breastfeed if necessary when we are out..and I am pretty sure the McDonalds customers and staff didnt notice me sitting in their car park with me titties out lol

  • I'm not using the battery pack... that thing goes through batteries faster than any kids toy I know.

    I bought this:  https://www.amazon.com/Medela-Vehicle-Lighter-Adapter-67174/dp/B001UZCNRC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1333997801&sr=8-2

There is also a plug adapter for the lighter that will take a normal power cord.  DD takes 45+ minutes to feed still, so "stopping" isn't going to work for us.  We might not get noticed by the folks working there, but my screaming 3.5 year old would...

  • I love BF but the one thing that sucks about it is when I'm in public. I'm not comfortable about NIP because sometimes Isaac and I do have laching problems still. Not always but we get them. So I always go out to the car/truck. My car does not have tinted windows at all but my SO's truck does. But I have had to pull over and feed him in the back seat a few times while out. I also had to feed him at the dentist office when I took my mom so we could shop after. Luckily the receptionist asked if I wanted somewhere private to go. She asked when I grabbed my diaper bag. So she let me go in there break room and shut the door so I wouldn't get walked in on. Even though I was the only person in the waiting room I felt much better in a room where I knew no one was coming in. I have nothing against NIP I just suck at it and don't want my boob to fall out if we do have latching problems that time! I'm jealous of being able to pull a bottle out and feed him! If I stop EBF it will be for the reason of going out. It'd also be nice not to have to stop to feed and be able to do it on the ride! I envy you!
